The grumpy thread

Yeah but It's CAR forum, everytime something like this kicks off it brings the whole forum down and ends up pissing everyone off.

Do us a favour and take it elsewhere please before it all ends in tears again.

Then get rid of this thread and let's keep the forum strictly for cars. Hang on, the reason this thread was started was to contain all of this non-car whingy stuff, yet people are getting twitchy because this thread getting (somehow  ) too grumpy? You can't have it both ways. To quote someone else, if you don't like it, don't read it.

Look, it's an unmoderated forum full of adults (mostly). We rely on self restraint rather than a report post button and a banhammer. This thread is for grumps, yes, everyone needs to vent but you can still piss us all off by spamming it to death trying to argue with Norm.

TeamBlitz, please go to your 'Cars and politics' forum. You know, the one you kept going on about 6 months ago.

There is an unpleasant whiff of "playground" around here again. So soon, too.

Please can everyone take a moment to recall the last time something similar happened, and learn from the experience rather than repeat it?

Possibly back on topic - if that's true it'll be a first for me.

My sandals broke today, the soles delaminated. I would've expected them to last longer as I got them from a jumble sale less than 6 months ago.

That's 20p I'm never going to see again.

Dammit, wouldn't you think they could make stuff to last?

I live in deck shoes over here, I find them very comfortable. However they seem to be very hard to find, especially at the Sunday-market prices I used to pay in Blighty. I've pretty much worn out the two pairs I bought in Wal-Mart in Las Vegas last March. These were ten dollars a pair, which is an extraordinary expense for me, but if you can't get them at home....

I may have to resort to ebay.

I always imagined you as a cowboy boots type of person, Eddy!

My toes are too wide! Anyway, they'd be pretty darn sweaty here...

I neglected to enquire as to the terms of the warranty

scimitar forum - bunch of arseholes

http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/view ... 22&t=10860

this is just the latest in a long line of examples where members* ask for parts, cant provide enough details for verification (or simply ignores the question) then moan about the prices quoted by the club parts suppliers. i have two sets of pistons +50 and +60, but simply wanted verification of the size before committing myself. (the +60 pistons are not usually marked +60, they just have a feint part number.)

i'm going to make it my mission to break more and more scimitars, and refuse to sell spares to arseface club members

* members of the scimitar club pay fees - i use the forum (occassionally) but dont pay fees, so im treated as a second class citizen

There's a yard of utter shite, right beside the M6 at Todhills. I've been charging up and down that road, for most of the last 2 weeks, and can I get a picture of the mountain of broken 4x4's and vans there? Nope, not a chance. The Google streetview images are far too clean and tidy, someone's been at the shite hoarding since they were taken.

Next time I get the Iveco, maybe I should fake a breakdown. Maybe it'll oblige...

'Next time I get the Iveco, maybe I should fake a breakdown.':lol::lol::lol:

Can't you just try using something electrical, perhaps something really mad like the indicators or that computer thing on the dashboard? That ought to bring it to a grinding halt or some sort of inferno :D

I'll have to get my old hard drive out and dig out some photos of a place I went to on the outskirts of Prague. It's an independent garage / scrappy that specialises in Iveco vans, but judging by the various bits of shell laying around they also did a fine line in Iveco cut-n-shuts. Reliability and safety in one big white package.

It's also the only garage I've ever been to that had draft lager on tap.

somebody rings our club offering a car for sale, before he sends it off for scrap.

apparently they can get get £150 scrap from the back of the local paper, so I ask, you are looking for offers in region of £150 then?

but no, if he sells it as a whole car, he wants £500.

why do people do this? is it a kind of extortion?

Posted

No, he's a chancer and a knobhead. Send him up the road with a 150 quid offer, but other than that he's not even worth talking to.

Posted

Also try and find out when he's had it taken for scrap and call him two minutes afterwards and say you have a buyer for £600 for it.

This...

...was on very little money with a few minutes to go. Was going to bang a cheeky bid on last minute then it went nuts, deservedly so it must be said. Must learn to be less tightfisted in future, the end price was still pretty good I reckon.

^^Helluva aircleaner snorkel on that muther too!

The air cleaner on my Amazon is like that. Only rustier and blacker. You're supposed to buy a new one at each air filter change. At £48 plus VAT I said 'sod it' and got me tin opener and soldering iron out...

Argh.
