Wow, the last time I contributed to this thread I was still driving the 820E. Anyhow, fleet largely unchanged except;

I drive this now:

And this:

Has replaced this:

Which ended up looking like this.....

Then this:

RoverSterling-Thedayitwasfinallybrokenup20.jpg

....after an engine failure

So apart from that, everything is pretty unchanged, and hopefully it'll stay that way....

Looks like an Imp one.

Correct! Got a pair for a tenner, damned sight cheaper and better looking than the VW alternative (usually Mk1 Golf or Polo).

Got the wife's daily, which although new is destined to be genuine shite in a decade or so:

My daily, which may or not make it to shite status, haven't decided yet:

If it doesn't make it, the trailers the mother-in-law's lovely neighbors dragged onto the lot across the street certainly are.

The current shite:

The shite slowly lamenting its fate at my parents' house, after the old man "gave" it to me but decided that, erm, he didn't really want to:

100% correct sir - no air con, no leather and the acceleration would realistically be measured in days.

Air suspension works perfectly, drops into motorway mode and everything. Was registered August 97

It's been really well cared for but has one issue.... the hotter it gets, the more difficult the bastard is to start. Did a quick search, seems a common issue but with no definitive solution :?

Ref : P38 hot start issues. I too suspect the fuel pump (s). One is in the tank, and a twat to get at, also pricey, the other, injection pump, is FRIGHTFULLY expensive, a total cunt to set up correctly, and seemingly unrepairable cheaply...... Get it running, keep it running, and flog it.

Posted

Sterling advice chaps, fuel pump seemed to be a top issue flogged up on my searches. No, no engine management light flickering, although now that you've mentioned it I'll keep an eye out.

I'll be completely honest - I gave £945 for the thing. The deal maker for me was the number plate, which will be being transferred onto the Laguna V6, after which the car will go on ebay at 99p with no reserve as I'm pretty confident I'll see my money back. Fully stamped service book (last service being in December), two owners from new, 138k miles. The starting issue is more embarrassing than annoying - about 10 seconds on the starter (first time) and it will go when it's at running temperature. Cold morning starts are much better.

Allo skattrd. Take it you b[r]ought that XT off Nev in Halifax? I've known Nev for a few years - he's a top sort.

The Galant Sapporo is absolutely stunning :D

Posted

Yes I did buy the XT from Nev, nice bloke. He didn't have the car long either.

Cheers gallondrunk thats my fav car atm. Engine rebuild and respray are on the cards for that this year ... once I sell some motors to pay for the work.

Posted

Wow Skattrd, that's quite a nice collection there. You are defo not pimping your collection enough on here. I want to see more.

Since the last update the Autoshite/RR slag Saab has gone and has sadly been scrapped according to Doovla  .

100_0137.jpg

I replaced it with Lanky Tims Audi which is known as Auschwitz as its big, white, German and runs on gas.

IMAG0380.jpg

IMAG0381.jpg

In the meantime as I am sure everyone knows, Volksy and I got the Sera from Kinkersaab:

IMG_0547.jpg

Was in pretty good condition considering. In fact it was in amazing condition for a free car. Chucked nearly £700 in total at it and got it back on the road and sold it with a couple of hundred quid profit each. Which was nice. These really are nice cars and I would have happily have rolled in it for a bit as its great to drive but its a little to gay for me.

We also got the Lancia Fulvia which should be on the road in the next few weeks as I am doing the last of the welding this week (weather permitting)

2012-01-09084121.jpg

Has needed serious remedial work though. Will have earned my money on this one. Hopefully the MOT tester wont notice the number plates, the one who failed it in October didn't. He also did not notice quite a lot of the floor was missing although it may be that he ran out of yellow crayon......

Also bought the ex Scooters/Sam Glover Volvo 'Council Estate'. Scooters is picking this up tomorrow. Is a good car but I cant justify keeping it and the Audi. It has electric everything, drives beautifully but I have opted for the Audi as a keeper between the 2.

Daf has gone to a new home:

2012-05-15083544.jpg

And the GT6 is still being used as a shelf for other car parts but will be on the road again about a month after the Lancia I reckon. Really could do with a paint job though.....

2012-04-24194732.jpg

Once the Lancia is gone I am bringing the Imp over here and putting it in the garage with the GT6 on the drive and will prep the Imp for painting (finally). The Imp should be at Cholmondley next year. :D Hopefully.

Here is a photo of some of the cars outside my mates house the other week pissing off his neighbours

I've only got one car and it isn't even shite! Recently had timing chain, handbrake and drop-links done at £Morethanit'sworth and the day after it shat it's exhaust back box, the ungrateful swine.

Still... Quite attached to it as it was my first, third and currently seventh car I've had.

Fleet update.

this

IMG_4537.jpg

I smoked around in for a while, thoroughly enjoying myself and becoming well known to local fuel vendors. Appropriately formerly owned by the London base of the libyan state owned oil company Sirte OIl. with the cruise on on the m/way gave 27mpg, which for a 5 litre v8 I thought quite good. Nice on the whole but an autobox slurring form 3rd to 4th and the beginnings of rot around the screens saw it part exed for this...

IMG_4766.jpg

Which was nice, and very soothing to potter about in, which I moved on a few months ago.

This

IMG_4864.jpg

Was used for a matter of weeks, before the need for another merc grew and was then swapped for..

IMG_5573.jpg

Which was a great long distance car, which we memorably took over to Germany over last winter amid the OMG sno chaos. Though a v8 (and RWD), winter tyres made all the difference. It did smoke a little, and the scary prospect of a top end rebuild and my wife grazing the side of it down a gatepost made it an easy decision- the time was right to move it on. Some of the proceeds then went on this...

IMG_5384.jpg

A knackered Dizzler estate (370k on the odo) which was an utter dog. You live and learn. which was swapped for this....

IMG_5930.jpg

A rover sterling, which was a pleasant old barge, with a rev hungry honda v6, but it wasnt really my thing and was speedily sold on.

At the mo, I have these two

IMG_6162.jpg

The Estate has just needed a bit of tlc to become a really nice car. I quite like the puritanical spec with the vinyl seats and gutless engine. It has a high (manual) top gear so its quite good on long journeys,

IMG_6168.jpg

The SL in my mind redeems itself by being in a 70s shade of poo brown, and previous owners have thankfully resisted the urge to bin the old hubcaps and add the 80s alloys and front splitter the later ones got.

Which are a nice pair to have, depending on what I'm planning to do/ where Im planning to go. Both are fairly decent and hope to stick with these for a while

Not much to say about mine, still much as it was.

...the two wheeled tank, AKA my Kwak Gpz 750. Still as it was, lurking in the weeds/garden, awaiting a bit of fixing. A fair bit of fixing.

Surprisingly, I haven't got a picture of the C-Zup, I'll fling one up when I can be arsed to negotiate the back garden.

BXs now both road legal, but both need fettling. Newer one needs less fettling so will be in regular use while I try and make the Mk1 better. (187k and 231k miles)

Maverick really hasn't been used much lately. It went two weeks with no use at all. Didn't half top-end rattle when I fired it up... (96k miles)

424839_10150744279678200_640023199_11438908_321645306_n.jpg

I don't seem to have any recent shots of the Mini. Have one from last year. It still only gets occasional use but seems fairly happy. (66k miles)

Maverick and Mini are due MOTs in the next month or so.
