Urgh. Tourer has been leaving little puddles occasionally - cooling system is pressurising up.

Decided to investigate. Sniff test - Passed. Good start.

Traced it to the thermostat possibly not opening? Luckily had a new one.

What a ball ache to replace! Giant circlip required a neighbour to help with.

Broke the gasket too, and even instant gasket wasn't enough to stop it leaking. So will have to finish it another day...

that's betterer ?

The trims look good from a distance, but as they're from a 600,the bolt holes don't line up. I've got some proper Rover ones coming which are much better

The Fenlander is being pushed into daily service now being as I've crippled the Tourer. I've had a tinker and tightened up the throttle cable and wound back the limiter to make it a bit more pleasant to drive. Also the squeaks have gone, which is good. Its not a bad car to daily, apart from the lack of lumbar support.

I'm tempted to bin the Tourer and concentrate on the Fenlander as my only car for a while. But that's being a bit dramatic just for a thermostat gasket*! ?

*Hoping it is just that and not something terminal.

Gasket now ordered, many thanks to @egg for locating one.

Fingers crossed it solves it...

Just knock up your own gasket from a cereal packet?

I've done it loads if times.

10mins would see one made,cost zero,job jobbed.

That would be lovely and water tight ?

I've actually got proper gasket paper, but for the sake of 3.50 I'll have the proper one I think... ?

It's up to you,but the old corn flakes packet works, and works well, done plenty of thermostat housings with them over the years when I had nothing else to hand and had to get rolling again, and yes they remain watertight.

Put new number plates on the Fenlander.

10 Autoshite points™️ if you spot the error I made. ?

It will have to wait until next month, I have far too many other things to spend money on this month.

Has the supplier spaced them like that?

Ouch! If you had to manually input the registration you have to put the space in yourself. It's a shame they don't do it for you but they are "showplates" after all.

I'll go onto Fancyplates and see if I can mock-up something similar. I can't remember the place that did mine which is a shame.

Yeah. I think I was supposed to put the space in myself.

Surely it is the fault of the manufacturer that the spacing is wrong? I’d be writing a strongly worded email myself.

That horn is brilliant. Where can I get one?

I found a big old snail horn in the garage the other day, I'll give it a go

No pictures, but finally got the power steering belt changed on the Fenlander.

Bought a 12v impact wrench as one of the bolts was a pig to get to / get any leverage on. Thanks to @big_al_granvia for the suggestion in another thread.

It feels a bit shit, but it worked a treat, and everything else was straight forward. Until I realised I'd put the old belt straight back on... ??? I thought it went on easy!

Once I'd got the correct belt on and put everything back together, I fired it up and it all works fine, no slipping or lumpiness! Woohoo.

Oil change done, went OK, no leaks or spills.

That's not fair, my nisi was issued on the 26th and I haven't had my absolute yet!

Did you do it online? It was really straightforward.

Liked for the fact that hopefully you should find moving on and continuing life as you want to much easier now.
