The Mazzer looks about right, but the TR4 is more likely, volume-wise

Someone has uploaded dozens of photos from Southend in 1989 but cannot be displayed because of copyright reasons?

Damn it.

I didn't think there were any 14s left by 1994.   Last one I recall ever seeing here was in 1990 and it was in a sorry state.

In 1985 that hot milf with a metallic green R16 complete with vinyl roof AND tailgate would have seen the 21 year old me fantasising about the " rally resting" position of the seats. ( TBH the 55 year old me is too)

Yeah I remember reading a Motor magazine road test of the Rancho & they were all sneery that it didn't have 4wd so it was basically a limited market...

Mmm as you say, you can't move for fake 4x4's now !

I walked past the New Cross one earlier. Just the same... except no Routemasters. It's built on old railway sidings - I remember before it was built. Massive car park mostly empty these days and store set right back from road so pretty difficult to walk to if you are not driving - ripe for redevelopment for...flats I expect in towers which is what is built on most sites these days.

What a line-up for a rust-race.  My money would have been on the Strada or the R30 disappearing first, probably the Renner as they also depreciated like a stone and did sub 20mpg. The Sud is a very strong contender too with visible rust progress you could track by the day. Ahh, choices choices.

WFC 96T 'blue' Granada Ghia Sapphire tax was due April 87 so, for whatever reason, only lasted 8 years from new.

Passat? You could get different headlamp treatments depending on spec.

Lots of Bluebirds there, with glimpse of an older 910, the U11 that was only sold here for a couple of years and a couple of T72s.

Nice Cressida too, and there's a Colt Celeste in that last shot (and Jim Rockford's Firebird, didn't realise he visited Southend in a later episode).

Our last one (PBY429W) soldiered on until 1999. Two others lasted until 1992.

Of five in my family only PCY816R (a very early one) lasted less than 12years, which isn’t any worse than any other 1970s family hatch.

Speaking of page 8, isn't the yellow car mentioned here just a Vauxhall Viva HC?  I can understand why folks think it's a Pontiac since it's got that signature pointy middle bit to the front that Pontiac were fond of.  It's a bit small for that though, and HCs were commonly bright yellow.

Yes but it's all about the bASe on the other side of the road, complete with Sainsbury's trims.
