Royale80 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Found this photo up my mothers. It's around 1996. Shows me and my series 3G Interceptor. 6.3 V8. Wish I had kept it-but marriage and new house got in the way. Steve RobT, Cavcraft, strangeangel and 32 others 35
Wingz123 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Crikey they must have heard you coming from the next county in that thing! Royale80 1
timolloyd Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Much respect. An Interceptor is in my top 10 cars to own. Is 'yours' still on the road? Royale80 1
RED2stroke Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Amazing motor in 1972 I worked after school at a local garage as a petrol pump attendant, down sarf and a guy used to come in from "up north lad" he had a primrose yellow one of these , with if I remember tinted glass, as a gobsmacked 16 year old I my lasting memory is of being able to see my reflection in the bottom of the fuel tank as I stuck my nozzel in...... MorrisItalSLX Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Interceptors are just gorgeous, absolutely stunning. looks like your old one has just had a fresh MOT, and is now silver. Royale80 1

iainrcz Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 I like Interceptors. Saw a brown one some time ago in a petrol station, cracking looking thing. Royale80 1

Funnily enough I still see it about at shows. I first saw it about 10 years ago, Tony who bought it off the person I sold it to, had done loads of work to it. The suspension was totally shot as well as the camshaft. Mechanically it's now superb-last time I saw him-about 2 years ago-he was going to start on the body. I'll see if I can find some photos of it as it now is. Stevve
Royale80 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 Found a few more. These were taken by my father when I just bought it. You can see my p6 3500S in the background. dome, wuvvum, MorrisItalSLX and 17 others 20
Royale80 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 Just found these. This was it at Tredegar Park Car Show in 2012. First time I had seen it in 12 years. dome, Banger Kenny, strangeangel and 6 others 9
Noel Tidybeard Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 whilst the blue was nice, resale silver seems to suit it well Royale80 and Cavcraft 2
Tamworthbay Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 I think the blue looked nicer, but I do have a soft spot for blue cars..... LightBulbFun, Royale80 and NorfolkNWeigh 3
320touring Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Lovely, and grand to see it still about! Must have been quite the ownership experience:) These are up there with the Citroen SM as "big handsome basturt" cars - exceptionally pretty, but carry significant respect with them. I imagine the original owner as a jovial chap, who'd have your kneecaps for overriders if you crossed him RobT and Royale80 2
Justin Case Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Gorgeous car especially in that colour, there was always a good showing of them at the Sandwell Car Show (after all they were only made just down the road ) From the colour and the Middlesex registration I can imagine it was originally owned by some famous entertainer who had just finished the panto at the London Palladium and had now settled down to a summer season at Great Yarmouth (those were the days ) RobT and Royale80 2
strangeangel Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Handsome beasts, those. I do prefer it in the blue as you had it though. Royale80 1
ETCHY Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Great looking cars. I think that shape has aged really well, when you think it came out in (I think) 1966 & compare it with things like E-Types & DB5's it looks far more modern. I preferred the blue Royale80 1
wuvvum Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 I agree, blue suited it better, although not sure about the body colour rear bumper. That interior looks an amazing place to be. Royale80 and blakey79 2
omegod Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 I'd love to track and interview the first owners of cars like these, must have been some lifestyle they had to be able to spend a hunk of chunk like that in those days Banger Kenny, Royale80 and Alanism 3
Cavcraft Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 Stunning motors, not seen one in ages. Royale80 1
Noel Tidybeard Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 allegedly the left and right sills are different lengths on an interslapter Royale80 1

That interior looks an amazing place to be. The bumpers were both painted when I bought it. I think I paid £4250 for it including delivery. It was from a dealer in Oxford who had a barn full of them. I stripped both bumpers using “proper” Nitromers - the front one came up ok but the back was a bit dull. Body wise it had more filler than Halfords- but was a nice drive, though not as nice as my brothers V12 XJS. wuvvum 1

Three Speed Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 My brother had a friend with one back in the 80s. I think he was about 22 at the time. Got it cheap as it wouldn’t go into top gear. I seem to remember it did 8mpg. Fantastic looking and sounding cars. Royale80 1
