Spotted this hiding behind the bins while waiting at the lights in a fairly rough part of West Belfast yesterday:

Looks somehow wrong for a Jaguar Mk2 - rear window appears too wide, and the tail lamp seems incorrect.

Is this one of those Mitsuoka things based on a Micra?

As said by @artdjones it's a Mk2 Jag.

You can just about see the Mk 2 badge and also the end of the chrome trim between the rear lamp and the rear wing

Yup, looks like it's the real deal after all - cheers folks.

Must be just the general vehicle inflation of recent years which made it appear really quite small - I could have sworn it was about K11 Micra size. But then I was behind some sort of massive Volvo SUV, so that might explain it...

Extended Allegro centre section with a US spec TR7 front end. 4 bolt wheels on the front and five bolt on the rear. It does look like a very crude photoshop, but then it does have a fuel cap in the rear pillar instead of the rear wing so it might be for real.

It's real, the guy's grandson posted the pics on FB but most were close ups that weren't useful. Think he said there was a 71 Camaro in the garage that hasn't moved for decades too

A mess

A celebration of all the most controversial and badly executed designs by BL.

The customs service here has had an action to stop garbage being sent to Africa. And containers it has as expected scrapped Toyota Hiace and similar in them but something stands out what is the vehicle in the picture below? And that's the only picture I can find of it. My first suspicion was Mercedes round nose truck but it is not, but it looks old.

It's a Mercedes lorry of some kind, the roof pressing with a brow is unusual though. The handles on the scuttle and the bonnet hinges are distictive.

Yes, I think so too. And after a bit of research, I think it could be one of the first Mercedes short-nose trucks. Like the 337 below.

Pretty sure that's a facelifted Mk1 Yaris front bumper loaded into the cab, too.

Many old Yaris travel south for a new life in Africa, so that's probably is.

And well spotted.

Yes, I'm expecting that mine will end its days taking a one-way trip to Addis Ababa, once the rust gets too much!

There are a few people locally who seem to seek out older Toyotas for the export trade, especially Camrys/ early Avensis models.

Dad's former Yaris is now in Africa, it is also most likely his first Hiace van and the other Hiace he owned will probably follow in the years to come.

Why were they taking action against exports? Better to export than crush older vehicles surely?

The vehicles are so bad that they are considered waste. And the containers are full of electronic waste etc.

So they try to stop this from ending up there as they care nothing about the environment and pollution so it is better if it is disposed off in a proper way here.

No idea what they will to do with it.

The only car I've ever had with an export marker was the Fiat Punto; mother-in-law's Peugeot 605 also had one.  Both turbodiesel/RHD.

I sometimes wonder where they ended up.

I have wondered the same thing. Should have put GPS tracking on the Yaris that went to Africa, it would have been fun to know.

The Royal Mint (UK) has opened a factory to extract gold from electronic waste (ewaste) ...
