Anyone seen any decent deals on good quality engine oil atm? Need 8 litres of 10w40 semi synth for the Granvia.

Posted

I buy bike oil from smith and allen.

ECP have good* deals. 10w40 seems to be cheap in most places due to moderns using 5w.

ASDA's cheapest branded synthetic oil. I put their app on my phone so I can locate their petrol stations when I am out and about and their sandwiches etc as you can always park and much cheaper than 'services'. No idea how competitive the oil is but it will probably be the cheapest of the supermarkets. Same oil is 25p more per litre at Halfrauds.

I think Tesco had Magnetec up for £17 for 4 litres the other day .... or £18 for 2 litres ....

Is Asda down brand oil actually decent quality?

See GSF have Mobile 1 for £24 for 5l but don't really need a full synth for the bus.

Gulf oil any good? I think I used their performance one in the Leggy once but those seem to run better on Fuchs.

GSF: Bought 2x 5l of Comma 10/40 Semi-syth (Eurolite) today, with discount code GSF58 - it came out to £35.65, that's less than £17.40 each. (Did click-&-collect).

Cheapest prices normally if you buy 20 litres or so, if you can justify it.  ECP, and ask nicely for a discount as it isn't something I can find on the web.

Ebay number 302049694384, sorry cannot do links.

Have used it for years and its euro car parts under another name

This. ECP sell 20 litre drums in store only and they really are cheap.

I saw that, wasn't sure if Comma was any good.

Comma is very good stuff IMO, have used their products for years, have friends who've used it in track/race machinery too. Based in Kent I believe (or they were).

Strangely enough eBay sometimes have some good deals. Worth a quick search and sort.

Comma is good as long as you avoid their Motorway brand which is the leftover crap and doesnt conform to any specs whatsoever apart from the viscosity one. It comes in a blue container and I would only use it on a car that I was going to scrap or that was pissing oil out daily.

Easter isn’t far off, Halfords might have a special on?

Anyone nearby with a Costco membership could probably get some GTX pretty cheap

Halfrauds well pricey at the moment. ...

Whilst on the oil subject being a Peugeot owner that leaks oil like a ho's fanny leaks ... which oil stop leak product works best ....

Smith and Allen oils are cheap and properly spec'd..  Another one is Oti oils..

Their UK contact address is in Gravesend.  Moove Lubricants.

I use Comma stuff a lot, have done for many years and haven’t had a problem with it.

I think these guys used to be Nielsen CDG and usually have some decent pricing

https://motorply.co.uk/collections/automotive-engine-oil

Use code B4UGO for an extra 20% off

With 20% off those are great prices for Total oil by the 5l. I reckon Total oil is as good as there is, having conducted highly* scientific tests. Rubia 15/40 used to be something like £210 for a barrel, delivered. Then overnight back in 2004/5, it doubled in price - I offered a cheaper oil, the sensible ones swallowed the price rise.

Today I use Smith and Allan, they're pretty good on quality and price.

...anyone tried the  LIDL engine oil?? I see they have a gallon at €15 here - 10w/40 - Im tempted to try it; I usually buy a €20 gallon from the factors; Valvoline etc

Quantum oil sold by Vag parts suppliers is a good oil (either castrol or fuchs depending on age of stock)

Synta is their 10w40 semi oil.

Available on ebay but not as cheap as I can get it direct

I used to get cheap GM 10/40 semi from main dealers for 20 litre drum around £38 ,  I have a trade card though but worth a call all the same
