Renault Clio Sport 172 MOT July FIXED.

This is costing me just too much to run.

It is having a new radiator fitted today and I will order 4 new Magnetti injectors tonight so it will be ship shape for the new owner.

93000 miles, 172 bhp, pulls like a great, the consensus is that it has had a remap.

Climate control, automatic wipers, windows and mirrors. Aftermarket head unit fitted.

Few age related marks, still very presentable. One small bubble at the trailing edge of each ear arch and a scratch on the bonnet. One wheel is a slightly different colour.

Coilovers and a 182 style exhaust are ditted.

Timing belt, dephaser, aux belt and tensioner replaced October 2017 together with a full head rebuild including 16 new valves. New clutch March 2017. All receipted.

Location Bonnybridge Central Scotland.

Yeah. More people want a hot hatch than a 75 though, see Jim Bell's MINI roffle.

Up to you of course!

Some more pics.

Magnetti injectors are £33 each from ebay.

I would take £1100 for the car as is.

Radiator all done on the Clio however the garage don't think it's an injector. They had a 182 cup in last week with injector problems and my car behaved very differently. He thinks it may be the injector wiring.

I've been totally cleared out from today's repair so now cannot afford to fix this.

It actually drove OK on the short drive up to my folks but once on the motorway the misfire returns badly.

Might be worth trying on the Clio Spirt Facebook pages. Tidy looking ones with belt history (like yours) look to be getting decent money.

Try H2F connectors on eBay, they might sell the part of the loom you need to repair the injector loom.

That looks fit AF. And very cheap. I remember my mate sold his to pay his HMRC bill. That was 12 yrs ago and he got about £8,000!

Surely these just get any cheaper!?

Sorry no roffles.

There is still a significant coolant leak in the same place as well so it wasn't the radiator.

I'm having a break for a bit.

Sorry to hear the Clio woes. Time to stick it in the corner and ignore it for a couple of week occasionally giving it the vickies out the windows as you go past.

Fucking hell that looks awesome. Swap for an MOTd and faultlessly reliable MGF VVC? :)

Not for me ta.

It's now fixed properly, I may roffle at £24 per ticket. Mulling it over, I tend not to like to rush these decisions!

How fixed is it and how much? ;)

100% fixed, no misfire. I haven't decided if I want to sell it yet as there has been little interest previously but if someone came to my door with £1400 cash....

I really want this but have to sell my TT first. (Goes outside to clean car and advertise)

What was the misfire and the leak in the end?

Posted

Misfire was the injectors and some dufus (me) had not properly clipped the metal pins into the injector plugs to hold them fast. Goes like fuck now and idles much better.

I thought the leak was the rad but since that has been replaced it persists. The only thing in that area is the bottom hose and the spring clamp looks old.....
