As a lover of American cars, most of which have that foot-operated parking brake, I'm deliberately ignoring it in the pedal count... ;)

Bit of a sad one this, single owner Maxi until the owner died at 91. Only last year, this pulled out in front of me from a side road without slowing down on the back road home and I had to brake hard to avoid hitting it. In any other situation I'd have been annoyed but in this case I was LOL'ing away, as a 90 year old in a snot green Maxi driving like a Londoner isn't something encountered every day.

This could have been a problem if I had money to spare.  It's far too close to me and it has a wonderfully beige interior.  Luckily common sense prevails plus the wheels are far too big and the description is unreadable.  I nonetheless implore someone else to buy it.

That Civic VTi's local to me - my dad'd probably buy it if it had less than 100k on it, he's picky like that.

Fortunately this really is too far away from me.

However the £200 bid luzzed in currently has me as highest bidder. Train times from Preston to Sidmouth anyone?

I wonder where 35 mpg comes from? A friend had a fairly new one as a company car at the time and it was crap on fuel. We used it on a few longer runs and the little yellow light was on before 300 miles despite a monster tank, about 80 litres IIRC.

On the subject of Pedal Count (which could be John Shuttleworth's 'hardcore' side project) the Renault 6 has four, none of which is the parking brake. That's right, you wash the windscreen by pumping vigorously with your left foot  8)

It's a TS so logically it needs to be 3 pedal. Two pedals only belong in lardy TX waftmobiles!

I'm not proficient enough in R16 history to be able to tell when exactly the TA was discontinued and automatic made optional across the entire range, that's why I asked. The TX came standard with five-speed column change, to my knowledge the only car ever so equipped. That the TX I found on Leboncoin has the optional bader spec makes it all the more desirable to me, since I quickly tire of antediluvian gearboxes and cars with them never seem to remain in the Junkman fleet for long. Based on this experience I avoid them nowadays.

That TX also has the rare tinted glass option and the original roofrack, quintessential for stylish* pineapple transport. No aftermarket roofrack will work on a 16.

Late DSs also had five on the tree, and I think some Alfas did too. My reference book reckons Alfa Romeo got there first with the 2000 of 1958.

I had an early MGB once (yes yes, I know, but it was a complete shitheap, you'd have liked it) that had a foot operated main beam switch.  That was a right giggle* on country roads at night if an oncoming car appeared while you were changing gear.  Luckily it had lots of torque and an overdrive switch, so you didn't need to change gear much;  this was also helpful when the gear knob sheared off driving across London one afternoon, leaving me a sharp spike to hold (and no synchromesh to speak of).

Proper early Transit - separate sidelights and everyhint. Looks fairly fucked though.
