A bit too messed-about with for my liking, this.

I have also done the mod that when you put it into reverse the front lights come on

Eh? Why?

Obviously you should buy Dollywobblers rather than this tasty beige number.

Purchased from a 100 year old lady who had owned her from new.

So she must have been in her late seventies when she bought it! Fair play.

I'm sure the 100 year old had more sense than to put those bloody headlamp peaks AND the incorrect chrome bumpers on it.

How the mighty have fallen. I went to look at this in early 2011 when it was for sale at just under £1300. I reckon somewhere just under a grand would have bought it, but even at that it didn't enthuse me enough to wave cash under the trader's nose to find out.

Now it's for sale with a short MoT and HGF (which seems to be a case of when rather than if with the V6 version). In an ideal world I'd be buying it for spares, but just having spent £700+ getting my own 2.2 estate serviced and MoTed that's not going to be happening...

Is it possible to dislike someone so much in life that you'd be prepared to send them off in this?

This poor buggers bought this Espaz then found out someone's pulled the pin out the grenade. It sounds like it it's ready to pop at any moment. Still at £1000 would it be worth putting another engine in it?

I took it to a garage who found it difficult to pinpoint the trouble but eventually discovered the oil/ diesel was Going somewhere it shouldn't and could cause the throttle to stay on when driving and the only way to stop the car would be to stall the engine which with a key card ignition is extremely difficult. I was told it would be expensive for me to repair and as I have already spent approx £500 I'm not willing to pay any more. The car will start and drive but i was advised against doing this. I know very little about cars but as i understand, the problem is with the turbo (although i may be wrong)

Oh, oh.

How does a key-card make it difficult to stall?! Unless it's got some fancy F1-style anti-stall kit, which I doubt. Guess that means the clutch is probably buggered to. Not looking desirable.

I reccommend a Nissan TD27 dizzler out of London taxi. Putting another dci in would be like Groundhog Day...

I'm guessing that they think if it had a key which you could take out, it would stop. Which it wouldn't of course, being a dizzle, but they do say they know nothing about cars. Sounds like minor runaway from turbo oil seals - if the engine isn't fubarred couln't you fit a reconned turbo?

I was thinking maybe it's starting to runaway hence it won't stop.

I s'pose it does confuse matters when you're sitting there with the engine revving its nuts off. Should still stall, even if turned on - but I'm not sure I'd like to try it! (and I'd have my foot very firmly on the footbrake!)

And a clean intercooler. And a bunch of other stuff I don't remember off the top of my head. I've got the Renault "dummies guide to the 2.2dci" on my pc at home somewhere. If I can find it I'll paste it up - there's a nice list of parts to replace wile troubleshooting...

I learned the hard way to walk away from these things.

if you're thinking of buying one you need to Talk To Frank.

This man was an Espace owner until he was taken into care:

If you have seen one of those running on you will know how high the rev's are. It will still run with the key out and its not easily stalled at those rev's it is running at. Run away and wait for it to stop as you can ring the scrapman then.

Also

The wobbling would occur at a speed of about 40 - 60 mph and would stop either by continuing to accelerate or lifting my foot off the gas. I thought the driveshafts would fix the wobble but it didn't.

Fucked diff bearings, loosely equalling replacement box. Proper liability, that thing.

Sad I know the answer to this. Not actually the front lights but additional side light in the indicator lenses, that light the front sides of the car.

Can actually be useful when reversing at night with the front end of the car swinging round.

Think it was a US thing.

Cheers

I went from a Gp15 RS2000 to a Gp20 Sapphire Cosworth because the Cosworth was £800 a year cheaper! Replaced the Cosworth with a Gp18 Integrale and had to pay £200 on top.

Fair do's. I thought he meant those massive spotlights come on when reversing! Never heard of that before but doesn't sound like a bad idea actually.
