I used to have a Dinky toy model of that, you could interchange the back to make it various different types.  Last time I saw the toy it looked like that!

Are these gearbox in sump same as a mini ?
what’s the deal with the automatic transmission on this one ? Is it a weird ticking time bomb?
sorry for the questions but I find the crab fascinating

IIRC it is an adapted Borg Warner 35 transmission, separate from the sump, chain driven from a torque converter mounted on the crankshaft.

Fucking bollocks , it's about as 'robust' as your attempts to hide the number plate.

Could be as simple as the stop solenoid, dirt in filter but probably diesel pump.

I have the Corgi bus version - wonder if they ever made a 'TV Detector Van' version. Maybe in a set with a panda car and action figures 🤔

Yes, can confirm it is a normal Borg Warner 35 mounted under the block but, crucially, with its own oil supply.

I had one of these in Wolseley flavour. You'll notice the gear selector is on the dash on the right hand side and the handbrake is an umbrella handle under the dash, leaving the floor completely free which was great in the Wolseley as it had front arm rests.

Great thing to waft around in.
