1969-70 - the year 1970 Ford introduced the Mk3 Cortina. I think by this point up until it was discontinued in 1971 the car was made at Cowley. It was the end of an era. The Marina replacement certainly did not have the gravitas or quality feel.

They kept making them because people kept buying them. The Landcrab was supposed to be a replacement and that came out in 1964 but they built both alongside each other for a further seven years.

A lot of traditional Austin/Morris buyers didn't trust this newfangled modern technology so stuck with the traditional Farina.

I cant help think the change of colour after he died and it was sold off by the family was a mistake, every UK petrol head knew what 'the beast' was and what it looked like.

Good to see that an MOT Inspector noted 15 years ago that, "Exhaust noisy".

lovely but pricey. Have a vague memory it was for sale for much less late last year
