Yes it is/was mine. With all the stuff I am going through, mostly work related, I couldn’t be bothered arguing the point. Or indeed buying it back then trying to sell it. Yes I know people on here may possibly have wanted it but I just need to have as little stress and hassle as possible right now. I could have kept it but to me I would always look at the damage and it would make me sad. I couldnt afford to make the damage ‘ invisible’ that would take a virtual complete respray because matching almost 30 year old paint would be impossible. I bought the car because of what it was, I had an emotional attachment to it because of that, that has been taken away by some prick that couldn’t look properly before he emerged from a junction. Some may say I’m stupid for making this decision but it’s how I feel right now, my health and family come first. Hopefully someone will pick up a bargain and save it. I have even thought of stepping back from this forum for a bit. Sorry guys.

Moons ago our safrane slipped on black ice and got it's entire front end smashed. It was awful. £4.5k the insurers reckoned to fix it so they said they'd write it off. I got it back and spent three days in snow and hail rebuilding it myself.

Over a decade later it's still not quite right, some panels have different shades, the is still done creased metal on the driver side wing and other woes.. but I am a stubborn sod and even though it ended up off the road for 12 years and now looks a bit of a wreck, it's still here and about to resume daily school runs.

Personally on your position I would have kept it. That's very minor damage compared to what I've had to fix.

Ooooh!

It was for sale on FB a while back, it has a cracked windscreen and they wanted double what I paid for mine and weren’t willing to negotiate down.

Be fascinating to see what it goes for.

I'd be trying the old direct feed to the starter (they're easy to access on these) to see if the neutral safety switch is acting up.
Like every other M plated SVX I've seen, this will have been made in 1993.

A few years ago these were £22-25k, this is quite the price drop.

Perhaps losing 7-10k in less than 5 years?

Still too expensive for me unless I mortgage my internal organs, and obviously the restoration cost hasn’t dropped by a penny, but as per the pre-war car thread, older stuff is looking more of a bargain now and cars through the 50s will probably follow.

Link of the most expensive and probably now the best value one.

Mathewsons tomorrow!

Same auction - SL500 out of MOT with wordiness that suggests TLC needed.
Question is - WTF is that sticking out of the cardboard box?
Really sells the car.

Another thing that is worth checking before buying one, if you intend to drive it, is that you actually fit in one.

I had a hankering (way beyond my budget at the time) to have an MG J2 or TA.

When I got to sit in a J2 it was obvious I could not have driven it safely.

People were smaller (not further away) back when these were designed.

I think the J2 is a smaller car, the TC is a little roomier than the TA (4 inches wider) but you’re right that they’re not exactly commodious.  Driving in thick socks is fine, right?

Who do we tag now that @eddyramrod has found his Forever Vehicle?

You have to tag him anyway, until the law is repealed
