Probably why it's survived. Standrive was pretty challenging technically and many did few miles,  just gave up and put the car away. Probably easy-ish to go back to manual - though fun to get the Standrive working.

It will probably take a Herald engine etc.

Information on the Standrive two pedal gearbox fitted to the Standard 10.

Much later NSU used a similar system on the RO80.

Rootes used a Smiths Industries system which was more like an auto-box called 'Easidrive' using magnets...
