That is absolutely ace.

'Tyres have lots of tread, and are old style'

I wondered what they meant by that, but trying to zoom in one the above photo and it looks like it is on cross plies!

Really nice that! What would something like that weigh? I think my Picasso has a max tow weight of 1300kg.

I bought this towards the end of last year as a restoration project, but have had a change of heart.

i.e. "It's much worse than I expected"

Bad points :
Very rusty floor pan, will require extensive repair to underside
Brakes require complete overhaul
Suspension needs complete overhaul
Air con pump has seized pulley so aux belt has been cut off
Lacquer peel
Oil leak
Door card fabric unstuck

You would be fine- we have a 1990’s Freedom that’s plated at 650kg empty and 750kg all up. About the same size as that onr

Anyone fancy Marina life ?

fun fact - my Dad had an Marina estate and the offside front wheel complete with hub assembly fell off - can’t remember why but to get it home we jacked it up and shoved an engine trolley under the offside front and slowly drove it back the 1/4 mile home

Many years ago my Father in law used to bring Kidderminster to a crawl when he used to drive a Fordson tractor home to Bewdley for his lunch

Bet he had quite a few nicknames...

I know nothing of bikes but that looks bloody ace.

I remember GT550's being everywhere from the mid 80s through the 90s. They were beloved by couriers for a good while. I ummed and are'd about having one in the the mid 90s as my 1st proper bike. Instead I listened to my mate and bought a nail of a Yamaha FZ600. If I'd had a GT550 it would have lasted a lot longer than that bloody FZ.

T'internet tells me that they were made 1983-94. They were well dated by the end of that period. Still a nice thing to pottle about on but as @Cavcraft implied they are no speed demon.

One of the last? I'd  image the Maxi would have looked rather old fashioned by the end of its long production run, despite the black bumpers and plastic wheel trims of the Maxi 2.

Austin Maxi 2, 1750
