I'd go for a Neon - I have an American Uncle up in Ayr who swore by his. He had two from new.
Must be getting rare these days though?

Would tick the 'cheap auto' box for the cool* kids

Our two would sooner get the bus than be seen dead driving anything that cool*
Happy enough to get a lift in any of my shite but, to actually own (and be known to own) anything with a whiff of giffer is a big NO.

How about a £600 Excite?

A teeny, weeny bit of MOT left and a mere 186,000 miles on it - excited?

I had an RT that was actually quite good . It’s been ages since I’ve seen one on the road .

I thought giffer was cool again? Maybe that was last week.

Last one I saw regularly in Charing, before lockdown now.

TBH, I'd be equally interested to know why he barbequed a fat hamster on his lawn.

The Citroen
Once upon a Sunday, sleepy
While I walked from carboots dreary
Having spurned the lost belongings
of the households near my door
While my footsteps scraped the gravel
Like worn tyres slip and scrabble
I heard a distant hissing,
gasping, from a garage door.
“’Tis some airtools, or a spray gun.
Only this, and nothing more”

Ah, distinctly I remember,
it was golden leaves, September
And each gently drifting petal
floated down towards the floor
Though I could not sleep for thinking,
of that strange, distinctive hissing.
With its clicks, and gentle creaking,
could it be a goddess, sleeping,
a DS that’s loved no more?

And with steel certainly rusting,
and an engine seized, unmoving
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic
visions never tried before
Maybe now, I could start welding,
sticking sheets together boldly
“’Tis some horror, not a classic,
hidden by that garage door.
Let it rot and bother others,
do not call and ask the score”
This it is, and nothing more.

Presently my funds grew stronger;
hesitating then no longer
“Bud, that Citroen, in the garage,
does it work, and is it yours?”
And the fact that I was asking,
and a kid with cash unfolding
Meant your avarice came tapping,
grabbing for the cash once more
“Warranty, of course sir;
30 days, and nothing more”

(there is a full version but I'm still refining it, and it does include the words 'busted Pallas')

Also, its got all my buttons pushed that thing, id have bought that in a flash years ago, now im just thinking 'how rusty is that going to be underneath' and 'how much do i not need another massive CX weld-a-thon'

Much want but much sadness

The sills have had a black paintjob somewhen (or did they come like that?!), which is now wearing off a bit, but the front arches didn’t look too crispy from the other side of the railings!
