What's up with the rear wheels on that Merc? Is there a dead cow in the boot?

Extract from the ebay ad.

The car was running and driving when parked at least 6 years ago, but had a big suspension fluid leak from the pump area.

As they appear to be a Merc specialist, assume its not an easy cheap fix..

Deux point Deux, £5000 in my home town Southam. Five grand seems rich especially since the ad doesn't talk about any recent expensive repairs.

2.2's are rarer than the 2.7's so do tend to go for more and they're cheaper on road tax, too,. Also they have a slighty less complicated suspension set up so, in theory at least, there's less to go expensively wrong.

I didn't know that about the suspension. What do you "lose" (gain in reliability) versus v6 models?

I dunno £5k still feels steep for a niche French smokeur but what do i know. I guess this is the sort of thing madmen enthusiasts will travel the country for. Maybe I've been conditioned by seeing £1-2k basket cases on here.

I think you lose the adaptive suspension and automatic spoiler, but you gain about 10mpg and save a few hundred a year in road tax.

That looks absolutely fucking horrendous. I genuinely hope it gets bought by (another) guy with more money than taste and they continue to roll as is...

Spoiler alert

C6 with a long MOT for £1,500. I can't deny that I'm tempted.

Was seriously considering this as local'ish but never realised that tax is in the  £675 yearly bracket.
Aware that makes me sound like a cheapskate but with a few cars, it soon adds up :(

Starting bid: £500

"48000 miles

Starts and runs very well.

Believe to have gearbox issue once warm. Currently drives around yard though.  Sometimes it won't start unless you slightly move gearstick out of park

Suspension has been let down, (boy racer had it)"
