I saw a clean Corsa B the other day, it felt odd compared to the other remainders of the ram-raiding halfords era.

There are still some original Corsas in town around here, among them is one of the oldest surviving examples (September 1993). Good looking cars imo, and they were a big leap forward from the boxy Corsa A/Nova design.

Definitely still looks nice, but being where I am in the South West-ish, where the streets are all grit - the alternative to that one U2 song - there's none left really.

Nope, he wasn't one of the Phorever People so he wasn't allowed.

The ad does say the PO was a woman. Vera maybe...or perhaps, following the sex change, Ebeneezer became known as Molly

I don't think I've ever seen rear arches that clean on a mk3 Cav.

That's identical to my former step dad's old one. That was the second car I ever drove, and the first time I experienced 100mph (not me driving). It holds some fond memories and I'd love to take that on but am seriously lacking the skills to put it back on the road. Hope it finds a good home.

I'm not sure how much work it would need to get through a test.  If it's as solid as it looks from the photos it might be fairly straightforward.  The thing that lets it down most is the fact that it has been painted with a broom, but that's not an obstacle to getting it usable.

Hey, is it just me or does £2500 ONO seem like INSANE VALU for a Mk3 Spitfire. Scruffy and two shades of red, but fully restored a while back with a rebuilt engine and various sensible sounding upgrades, and is 'mechanically superb'

For comparison, this one is on an auction and is already more expensive

I don't have any money but I'm trying to stop myself going to buy that tomorrow. Good job it's really far away. Talk me out of/ into it?

Oh well, can't have everything. How bad could it really be?

That 1.6 engine/Hydramatic 3 speed is a really nice combination.  Good drive are those Astras.

I think you are homophobic against cars that identify as self-shifting.

I campaign for equal rights for two-pedal cars

My Grampa had a blue one like that, before getting my Great-Grandfather's red one.

I have the same transmission in my Kadett 1.3. It's fine, doesn't feel sluggish and isn't much thirstier than the (manual) 1.2. I'd only steer clear if the intend is to do a lot of motorway driving.

Lovely place Whitstable on the Thames coast.  Bring a battery by the looks of it.

yes its very pleasant. We often take the mutt out for walks in Whitstable.  Would be tempted with the XM too if I didn't have one of my own taking up valuable space on the drive since last April
