Every single one (and there were a few) of those 24V Mondeos that came through Chester auctions sounded like an oil starved 1.6 OHC from a Cortina. That car is well fit though.

The clutch on the diesels can be changed without removing the gearbox I believe, no idea about the petrols though.

IIRC, any 8V (inc. Mk3) had the ‘letter box’ between gearbox and clutch making it easy to change the latter.

Hopefully, we’ll find out when @4wheeledstool finishes the Mk2 and moves on to its successor.
