It's had a lot of sparkly stick in the past, but it looks great otherwise.

Scruffy but road legal AR125.  I had one of these - decent little bikes, pretty reliable for an old 2-stroke.

Here's a rarity - a Solifer, a Norwegian make apparently.  Only one ever registered here so parts would be fun*.

This is another one I'd never heard of.  Italian import, but has an Italian CoC with it which should make it slightly easier to register.

Oviously a povvo spec model though - instead of a speedometer it has a blanking plate with "speedometer" written on it.

That is probably the best 20 year old car you can buy and run daily with nae a care in the world. Marvellous.

Timing belt or chain on that one?

Looks like its a belt on the FE engine this has. Pretty sure the GE (high performance, Celicas and Carina E GTI) got a chain though.

Not sure if these suffered high oil consumption. I think the FEs did a bit generally but not as a big an issue as the 1.8 1ZZ engine.

These are a superb bit of kit.  I always liked the way they went against the trend of turbocharged 7.5-tonners - the MAN way of upgrading power was to fit a 7-litre engine.

I didn’t know that there was more than one model of Gilbern.

Gilbern GT(various BMC lumps) begat the Gilbern Genie(Essex), which begat the Invader Mk1-2-3(also Essex); then the wheels fell off after the tax rules changed for part-built cars.

Wow, that's especially dire. Angle of bed (and the fact it's made of wood) suggest it's been used for plant, so has had a hard life pulling heavy stuff around.  That it's been run with no MOT won't help the buyer, either.

Belts on the 3sfe.

There’s a long running pub argument as to whether this or the 7afe (1.8) is the best Toyoda engine of all time. From memory there’s some lean burn kit on the 1800 which makes them very economical (45-48 very achievable) but it is something else to go wrong.

The reality of 90s Toyota ownership is other stuff dies before the motor. I’ve got 2.5 functioning electric windows now for example!

This popped up today but is a couple of months old. Probably worth an email as there can’t be much of a market for Broken Renner 15s

I went to bed thinking about it (not Liz Hurley)...but in the morning I looked at the sellers feedback, thought about the price, and realised it won't fit in my rented off road parking space (and I'd have to sell the Mazda). So it's not 'the one' - but it was close. Assuming it has optional climate control as has an 'auto' setting on the AC.

i know that this is only the teeny-tiny 250, but even so at £2900 that sounds cheap for a BSA Goldstar......

more Bits Scraps and Allsorts..........

£2500 and this is a starfire, which is a cool sounding name

Please dont be fooled by appearance. The Starfire I had (ALA 214G) was the biggest pile of poorly assembled bits masquerading as a motorcycle i have ever owned, and I've owned some rubbish in my life. By BSA tuning a 40 year old motor was asking for trouble. It was breakdown after breakdown, none ever possible to fix by the roadside.

My mate had the 250 Goldstar at the time I had my Starfire. Another mate had the 250 Barracuda. Both of theirs broke down less frequently than mine, but that was because they were on the road far less than mine as they were in 100's of bits 90% of the time.

Better off with a 250cc two stroke AMF Harley (and that's saying something!!!)
