By jove I have the megawants for this. The perfect vehicle.. Auto too. What's the deal with the box in these? 4 speed plus O/D apparently. Does that mean you're locked up in 5th for mega MPG's? Are these unburstable in a hilux way or flakey in an obscure HGF way? MOT history says "generally rusty underneath".. run away... right? But but... so NICE! Anyone nearby?

This bloke has lost a lot of credibility converting an old Caddy to DIESEL, I think Junkman and Eddy have put a Bounty on his head, and I don't mean the coconut filled chocolate bar LOL

oooooff. However it gets better. Surely a claim to fame here:

"It has been owned from new by a lady and her nephew. The latter gave up driving on his 100th birthday."

How old is the 'lady' if the nephew is at least 100 years old?

The car's grand, but the owners are probably both f00ked.

If memory serves correct, the O/D on these consist of a different top gear suited for motorway cruising.

I'll let Doc Brown explain:

Verdict: Buy it now, Buy it fast.

My neice has Cerebral Palsy. She's also 17 and learning to drive soon. Pretty sure she'd rather wheel herself around, but I'll offer to buy it for her nonetheless because that's what uncles are for.

If it's a jap import, then it'll be rusty.  They don't underseal them at new because they don't salt the roads in Japan.  They come here and take a right old kicking.  "Generally rusty" tends to be a 'catch all' in my experience.  Go have a climb under it, commit to a few cans of something to make it nicer and secure another few years worry free motoring.

The Overdrive is probably the same as in my Granvia.  It locks up at about 55 and does about 2,600 rpm at 70.  It also "free wheels" when you take your foot off the loud pedal for more economies.

I drove a "Noah" a few years back which was similar to this.  It made my shins BURN as i couldn't get the seat back far enough.  Changing the runners would have me looking at the B post when trying to pull out of traffic, so had to pass.  If you're tall, you need to drive one first.

I have to disagree about imports always being in worse shape, though I only really saw MX5s and Miatas. The UK cars were always in worse shape, even compared to early imports that had been in the UK most of their lives. There was nothing worse than a faded red, early UK MK1 MX5!

Sorry, I should have been clearer.  I meant the undercarriage will have taken a kicking from the roadsalt we use that the car hasn't been well prepared for.  Nowadays the importers tend to underseal as part of the process.

No I meant that too. Suspension nuts and bolts was a study in rust, heat and snappage with a pink UK '1 but the Miatas would usually come apart ok.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Looks like it's towing a close coupled trailer.

But more to the point, is he Dollywobbler's long lost cousin?

Where's Junkman gone?  This thread is thin pickings without him urging us not to paint things.
