Of course if you were to sell me the Morris you would have enough time / space / etc for the Alvis.  Just sayin' like.

Can't comment. I've never met your good lady. I'll take your worth for it. :-)

Late diesel Meeger estate.  Unfortunately it's a 2.2 DTi and therefore has engine management issues.

Looks a bit too crude for a Rootes factory job. Question: it has a nice-ish numberplate. With the 40 year MoT exemptions are these all now vulnerable to transfer without even the cost of making roadworthy?

Candidates for number robbing rapery, sorry plate transfer, have to be MOT'd even if ordinarily exempt.  Otherwise I suppose the logbook peddlers would be even more quids-in.

Ok. So even exempt need to have MOT to rob. Should slow things down a bit. Good to hear.

This is in the parts section for some unfathomable reason.  Has been fitted with a later DI engine, but when the alternative is a York that probably isn't a bad thing.

So, correct me if I'm wrong. But someone has taken a 4.0 V8 and auto box out of a big 4 door saloon and transplanted it into another slightly smaller 4 door saloon . Ok bolting a turbo to it will have made it faster , but why not just bolt a turbo to it in the Lexus and save hours of fucking about?

I could see the point if it was a manual in an MX5 or something , maybe I'm just getting old.

I could see the point of swapping in a Chevy V8 which has power enough because it is big enough but all that dicking about with electronics and turbines - why bother when you can buy modern cars that have all of that joyless complexity?

Yep, I'm old too.

Yes but that's not a new thing, people have been putting V8s in Volvos for years , not to mention mental powered Volvo 740 Turbo engines . Surely putting a big turbo on a JRG GS430 would make for an even bigger 'sleeper'.

As I say, I'm just getting old and ( more) contrary.
