eBay tat volume 3.

I think that I put this one up before a week or two back, but it may be worth another outing, if only because orange (even the tool roll is orange).  No one is bidding at 3500.  Is this too much?  I know nowt about these cars.  There is another 1976 orange one on sale at 6750.  OK, so not unique then.  "Ultimate Car... the Second"

Maybe the sentence

I have been as honest as I can

is the off putter?

Or is it just me, who reads this rather frequently used phrase as

"I have very little confidence in my honesty because I'm generally a shifty crook"?

All depends on condition BV. They have real rust problems with sills (doable but not cheap), boot floor (harder), floor pan (parts available at least!) and bulkhead (nightmare - this can simply write the car off) plus can and do rust almost everywhere else (rear window is a fave). From the pictures the vendor's stuck on eBay there's obviously a fair amount to do and you'll probably be looking at a good few thousand to get it to a decent standard, more if you need to respray it, even more if the rubber seals (not cheap) all need renewing

Basically, as a running project for £2k it might make sense, at twice that amount it's overly hopeful pricing.

I fail to see the attractiveness in them. For me they always were taxis, or the choice of the butcher who has made it.

Maybe I'll consider a six cylinder version after the last existing Rover P6 turned out to be too far gone to be fixed up

needs rebuilding the rear brakes.

The guy seems to have been trying to sell that for a while. I remember seeing it months ago with the same pictures although I think starting bid was £4k+ at that time.

The pics of both orangenwagens were taken when there were leaves on the trees, so neither is a rapid seller.

OK, here's how it's going to play out.

The two of us are going to buy this - 50/50.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252749197795?ul_noapp=true

You'll smoke about in it, tearing up the fast lane of the M4 like it's still 1998.  Once my daily gives up, you can then either keep your share, or let me buy you out at the price you paid in/what it owes.

Obligatory broken rear bumper included, naturally.

You're welcome.

The problem getting these Orange Panzers sold will be more likely down to the test drive showing up how annoying it is having the manual box version with a handbrake away to the right.

Just try it.  Your hands are off the wheel more than they are on, which is gr9 for hill starts pulling onto a main road

This could be one for the "confessions" thread.  Not much good, I know, compared to a £3.5k V8 BMW / Lexus / Jaguar but so much more desirable. Why is that?

post-17481-0-98263100-1486470107_thumb.jpg

When I said desirable I wasn't including the worst leather, ever.

post-17481-0-81927700-1486470135_thumb.jpg

Small, crude car, big engine (and manual) is why.

Oh well, at least the heap is easy to see when you stall it and it fails to re start (preferably with a long line of white van men and Yummy Mummy SUVs behind it).

No, that is a positive selling point for a manual Merc. - it doesn't have a foot-operated parking brake!

Points awarded for ace mirrors.  Points deducted for Twat Redneck sticker.

They will never stall and fail to re start.

They are German, you know. Thus they are utmost reliable, never break and last forever.

If you want to create a queue of WVMs and SUV Milfs, buy British.

I once got on the radio traffic news when my Triumph Vitesse conked out on Hammersmith Flyover causing OMGTRAFIKAOS.

You and whoever enters this deal of a lifetime ( not me) could then be known as The Two Gentlemen of (a) Verona.
