Viceroy has the longer front end to take the 6-pot engine, but the 'ordinary' carlton arse end. Senator has a longer arse end on it.

 

Carlton = Rekord

Viceroy = Commodore

Senator = Senator

Opel Rekord 1978-84 sold as VX Carlton - 4 pot 2 litre, 2 windows each side.

Opel Commodore sold as VX Viceroy - 6 pot 2.5 with longer front end, but still using the 2 window side plan of the Carlton/Rekord.

Opel Senator 1978-83 sold as VX Royale saloon - 6 pot 2.8 or 3 litre with the longer front, plus different rear section incorporating an extra set of windows behind the rear doors.

Opel Monza 1978-82 sold as VX Royale coupe, as above but with fastback body.

 

When GM facelifted the whole range in 1984 the UK got the VX Carlton but not the Opel Rekord, the Viceroy/Commodore were dropped and the VX Royale name was dropped and the saloon became the Vauxhall Senator and the coupe was sold as an Opel Monza.

Clear as mud huh? :lol:

1 Toyota 8 seat space crusier for sale 80's retro mota are a rar thing so hopeing to find some one that would use it and do it up. Boddy work needs doing in few plcae but the main frame is soled no hols or repair work needed. The engine starts never needed any thing done to it. The radiatior will need replacing am awaiting quotes. Also needs glass in the slide door was not damage due to a crah. Has got full cover to stop weather damage getting in and has worked. The intera is gray fabric with gray carpit no mold or damage.All seat belts working,lights working,engine working,tyers and alloy wheels all fine.The seats all fold back or to the sides depends on space needed. Grate for big familys,bootfairs or just touring has roof rack,tow bar,doble sunroof in tact all working.Has stero with face off working.Is an automattic runs on petrol fuel. Has disabled tax at the min so would have to be changed for new owner.Also the M.O.T. has just run out but could be arranged would need to contact for information on this. Viewing is fine. Good lord! I can think of nothing better than just loading up with petrol fuel and touring to a bootfair in a retro mota, tact all working, while listening to banging doble on the face off stero. Viewing is fine, brother. Crah! Many thanks to you, Norman.

I was driven around Belgium at extremely high speed in a Mondeo exactly the same as that in 1997, although it was a V6.

I can remember sitting outside the KFC drive-thru in Milton Keynes as a 16 year old (1985), planning a European tour with my mates. We were going to do it in a Space Cruiser, cos a VW was too obvious and we thought they were just old tat at that time. Anyway, Norman's also got his one on Ebay, I was looking at his tome this morning, possibly better than the Gumtree version:

Was hoping this would be one of the rebadged Lonsdales.. it has no badge on the s/wheel but wrong mirrors to be one. Verdict: it is what it says on the tin. Also would expect any ex Lonsdales to have ended up Sigmas post A reg

Savvy the Lonsdale was based on the Sigma, the Sigma was the higher specced Galant so you are very right

It has had several thousands of pounds spent on it, as you can see for yourself. The money, though, has not gone unnoticed. This car is such a head turner that money people (pedestrians and drivers alike)have continuously spoken to me just to have information about the car. Therefore, if you are that kind of guy that does not like to be noticed, this car is not for you.

The boot is professionally fitted with two powerful sub woofers and two powerful amp. To make matters worse, I have added a pair of piezo tweeters and upgraded the CD player to pioneer so the sound system is amazing.

That Galant looks good, but the rust looks very scary.

 

Anyway - over on the blue forum, this hotty at £1500 is not particularly cheap, but very fit.

C reg = 1985(ish) - seems rather late for a 4 to me.
