I think they were available with PAS but this is peak mingebag era for Ford so most probably didn't have it. 

The rear suspension comes from a Rennow for some reason. 

I should think it's pretty much like driving a slow, noisy box around.

I had one with the older front end, it had PAS. 1.8 d wasn't that bad would do 90 and handled ok with a bit of weight in the back. Not as good as a Combo though.
