Possibly just needs a new dizzy cap, they are difficult to get at between the back of the engine and the bulkhead and tend to get forgotten about.

I had a 109 station wagon that was fitted with the 2.6 6-cyl and it went OK. Later we fitted a 3.5 V8 ('cos everybody was raving about them) from a dead SD1 and, frankly, there was not much difference, other than noise level. A tuned up 6-cyl was easier to work on too.
Jet-1 is the Rover that I'd like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rover_JET1

Last time I saw JET1 it was on the hard shoulder of the M25 (in the days when it had a hard shoulder) with a couple of bemused nutty professor types standing next to it. Its the sort of car you tend to notice.

This really tested my "no buying of anything else until I get a few projects finished" policy. When I left my bid I didn't hit reserve and thought I was miles away from his expectations.

It was even in Bristol, so I'd easily have been able to got it home.

Just I really really need to not be distracted from getting the Midget and Dolomite finished.

That looks class, even with those indicators.

£500/best offer seems pretty good considering it's got a full MOT

Absolute bargain that, train to Blackpool, make a weekend of it then drive it home the next day.

Appalling photo skillz to match the appalling wheels, but could be a half decent buy at that price.

Nice badermatic,  but reserve not met.

I could be wrong, and I often am, but am I right in thinking this Mk3 Fiesta shares its CVT gearbag with the Panda Selecta shown further up the thread?

Admittedly a mid day auction end during the day but still way cheaper than I expected. Possibly because the reserve auction puts people off and I guess there is only so many people wanting a classic S-Type. Many of those that still do, don't want a project car especially given the reputation of being expensive to repair (like the engine). Instead want something super shiny and ready to go. Coming soon into Spring, people are even less likely to want a potential project too.

Given he paid 6k for it a few years ago, thankfully it's now showing that most classics are not investments. Hopefully older interesting stuff will fall back down to more realistic prices like that more often.

The thing with these original S-Types is they have some odd styling being somewhat of a mishmash of 1960's Jag styling and as such have never reached the classic prices of the much more popular MK2, also being a 3.4 auto its the least desirable of the S-Types

It still does look cheap but these have a tendency to rot for fun so you probably missed a bullet with it once you start digging.

I rebuilt one 20 years ago and they are nicer to driver than the MK2 with the better independent rear suspension, the engines are nothing to be frightened off, the only real pain is setting up the cam clearances but even that is easy just time consuming.
