Yamaha FS1SE custom - Picture 1 of 11

Yamaha FS1SE custom | eBay

I'd absolutely love one of these, but five grand, FFS! It's worth probably £2,000 on a very good day.

That's a MK4/5 tailgate not just later badges. (Probably MK4 as no wash/wipe.

I feel like this is the same market/crowd that has driven up the price on 80s BMXs to stratospheric levels. 80s teenage nostalgia tax.

Still don't understand why everyone wants a mustang when options like this exist. Same with Pontiac etc.

Mustang is the American car people who don’t know anything about cars want. They have heard the myths and legends over the years and think it must be the real deal yank car. Whereas we all know there are much nicer looking/performing etc ones available without the mustang name price tax usually

Rare these, almost no one wanted these later fizzies, let alone one that had ‘custom’ aspirations. The UK bike market didn’t like customs/cruisers much at the time

If it does have a 460 someone must have retro fitted it as the internet says the biggest engines these got was a 429. 460ci is a fucking massive engine .

I think because of the sort of mini phase of stuff like the XS250SE/GS 250T/GS550L etc that the 'big 4' must have assumed they were riding a wave, but the fad didn't last long.  The later ones aren't a patch on the originals, and considering how much more modern/smarter stuff like the new coming AR50/MB50 etc were, the writing must have been on the wall for the FS1, so God knows how it petered on until about 1990/91. Even the RD50M was a much nicer looking bike than the autolube onwards Fizzy

Agreed, though the people trying to advertise these as this sort of money are surely not going to get much success in forcing prices upwards as they just didn't have the appeal of the older or more desirable 'peds. That said, the later restricted FS1s are starting to creep up now, but my guess is because Fizzys are so far out of reach money wise these days, people see these as a second best. It's the reason both mine are the later ones to be honest, they'll never be (or beat) the original but they can be close enough and as much fun. When they're not breaking down, that is!

Possibly the only car on eBay to have an oil leak on the top of the n/s/f inner wing

I'm friends with the previous owner on Facebook. It was his first car back in 2011.

He sold it in 2023 as it'd been off the road a while and there was no time to fix it. Looks like it is pretty far gone though...
