Unlikely. 1.4s can't pull the skin off a cold cup of custard and you'd need a 1.7 bellhousing, mounts all round and prop, just to put a Renault 16v engine in. Then they just spin the rubber prop couplings anyway. They need so much engineering done to make usable power that you're much better off starting with something else in the first place. Like a 360 or 940. Or a BMW.

Oh I thought it was the 1.4 where the F4R "drops right in m8"?

I had one of these in 2007-8.  They're a splendid little car (little in American terms of course, meaning about the size of an XJ6).

Can somebody tell me why this is a bad idea? Seriously considering it.

Some rot related MOT advisories but otherwise....why not? I think these were prone to HGF so just check that too.

You'd make your money back when you come to sell it I suspect.

Head gasket is a simple job though on the push rod engines. They're a fun steer too, defo worth looking at.

Don't you need a reliable and fairly spacious car to collect/drop off your kids some miles away panda?

Tasty looking sub-£500 Peugeot 405 1.9D with remarkably clean MoT history on Autotrader. If this doesn't end up on Autoshite I'll be amazed.

I'd be surprised if it ended up on Autoshite.

Autoshite is disappointed even if you retrieve one of maybe a handful remaining 2.0 autos.

Just a 1.9D not a TD.

Only because it was you!  We expect more cylinders, that's all.  We do know you like a 405 and that's perfectly fine.

I'm sure that tuned up on Facebook 'Marketplace' a couple of months back. It goes with out saying anyone who didn't make a fucking ridiculous offer on it said they definitely buy it tomorrow/Tuesday/exactly a thousand years and one hour after the battle of Agincourt ended.

You know when you think you've watched every single episode of 'Wheeler Dealers' but you see a still from one you don't remember? Well, I must have been on the piss mid week when Ed China painted a black cock on the front door of a Transit and an adjacent spunk bubble on the back door.

'the cab needs a little attention'

It needs more attention than a negligee clad housewife who answers the door to a window cleaner in a 1970's porno film. And, just like that lady 2 hours later, it's absolutely fucked.

Get away with pesky congestion charges by simply re-arranging the 'Van Hool Elizee' badge to say 'Heave oil on lez' then driving round central London eyeballing parking wardens.

If only we knew someone in Glasgow.

If only we knew someone in Glasgow who liked Volvos.

If only we knew someone in Glasgow who liked Volvos and could drive coaches.

If only we knew someone in Glasgow who liked Volvos and could drive coaches and might get pissed and buy this off eBay.
