Nope, not yet!

Haven't needed extra clothes yet!

Snow is falling thick again.

Stop for tabs.

168 miles to go.

I've offered him a bed at mine if he needs it, about halfway point. Although the snow is pretty bad here too.

That was fun, let's never do that again.

Old girl did good. 304 miles of shitey conditions and she used less than half a tank. Happy days.

Right, off to bed, got to be up in five hours.

Waking up to news of hundreds of people stranded in Cornwall and then reading this thread :D

Spending already started, at ten quid, I may as well just change it :D looking at the heater matrix next, any easy way to confirm if it's a Valeo or Behr unit? Is it a dash out job?b7d0eed1e7cc1445f8401f4d2367780e.jpg

Does it need a new heater matrix or does it just need a flush?

I don't know what access is like on these but on many cars you have to remove the whole dashboard to access the matrix.

Not sure, getting a little bit of heat out, so maybe a flush is a better idea. Doesn't appear to be leaking.

What a relief you made it home OK. It'd only done 300 miles in 12 months until last night...

Hopefully that new cable for a tenner helps with the clutch.

Was coke or dishwasher tablets to flush the cooling system?

Dishwasher tabs, might be worth a go.

Both have been tried and both apparently work, I've had some success with a crushed dishwasher tablet.

Insanity like this is what keeps me reading and posting on Autoshite.  I bow down to you.

I might try this on the 11, as the heater in that is also rubbish. I assume it's a case of lob it in, drive for a bit then flush.

Worth bearing in mind that 3 colleagues, who collectively have to travel 25 miles between them, have decided it's best to work from home today.

Well done dude.

Bemused of Hertfordshire.

I chucked one in the ZT a few weeks back and just left it, shouldn't do any harm as it's quite diluted. Made a very slight improvement to the terrible heating, fairly confident the matrix is just full of gunk. Plan is to throw in a few more dishwasher tabs and give it a good run, then if there's some more improvement I'll probably flush it out.

Congrats on getting back safely in one piece through deeply unpleasant road conditions - the first Epic Collection Thread of 2019??

I always found my Lags performed well in the snow, especially with winter tyres fitted.

Would second the dishwasher tablet trick as a first sttempt at getting your heater toasty again.

If there's still no joy and the matrix needs replacing, then to find out what type of heater set-up you have (Valeo/Behr), get your head into the passenger footwell, yank out the fibre matting and shine a torch up into the corner and see what's written on the blower unit.

Course, you may then discover that, perplexingly, yours is apparently a Valeo-type unit, but manufactured by Behr.

Or else Mr Haynes is talking out of his blower unit, again.

I'll hoke the roof bars out of the shed over the weekend and see what's what - hasn't been a great week for it (but you already know that!)

I dread to ask but where do you chuck these dishwasher tabs? In the coolant?!

Glad you made it home safely, that was bloody good going!

Glad my collection wasn’t in the snow. The windscreen washers didn’t work

Yeah just crumble one or two into the coolant expansion tank. Done it a few times, not had any problems and occasionally it's made a minor improvement, of course results may vary...

Good lord, man, you're insane.

Well done for making it home in one piece. Hope you've got enough sleep to keep you going through your shift.

I don't own a dishwasher, so I'll have to buy some specially. Is there a 'stand out' automotive use brand?

And a big well done on the Renner collection.

300 miles in a totally untried, untested & unused car in those conditions is little short of mental.
