Diary. 

A trudge South brought us to our first sanctuary. An oasis in the tundra. Spirits are bouyed by the lights on the platform, glowing dimly like the hope that beats softly beneath my layered coat.  The crude diesel train seems to be on time. Reliable in these modern times.

Tragedy. 

 

The modern electrical connecting train has failed. We are abandoned. We are left in the white wasteland. When will man accept that electric travel is an abomination unto god. 

 

 

I must not yet concede defeat. I will barter for onward transit with the local folk.

Diary. 

The locals are unhelpful and smug. Sat warm in their booth. I give them all I have in exchange for a slip of paper to allow travel on an alternate rail service and declare to all that can hear that I shall be getting my monies worth by making use of the conveniences at some length. 

 

Toilet paper was cheap, thin and less than comfortable. Still. Evacuation was successful. I have telegramed Lloyds of London to update the count.

Other travellers are tourists. They do not travel with purpose.

Weakened as I am by the journey so far, I refer to my traditional provisions. Brunch was consumed swiftly and with little satisfaction.

Weather reports indicate no lull in the winter within the scope off our journey. We must ask those at home to pray for the safe collection and return of ourselves and a daft old car.

Have arrived in England. The transport hub throngs with souls spooling back and forth between trains. Please see attached etchings offered in celebration. We must transfer to diesel again for reliable perambulation into the outlying settlements. The prize is awaited and the weather is finally abaited.

Update.

Turns out someone has nicked the Lada's starter and the starting handle has been lost, an attempt was made to tow start it with a Invacar but it blew its drive belt. So the rescue team has given up and gone to the pub so he has to fight on alone.

Unconfirmed report of a sighting of our hero has been received.

A One Ton  Supply Depot has been established on the route of the Rail Replacement Bus

so our intrepid explorer may revitalise should his skis take him that way.
