Reset the computer and on a 10.5 mile commute it's showing the below numbers.

A whole tank of runs like this and some pen and paper figuring should show us the WORST economy it will deliver.

Grade     C-

Comments.        Jim could do so much better if he wasn't so easily distracted and consentrated on the job in hand,  I'm pretty certain with some extra coaching and hard work he could better his grade this coming year.

Recomendations.    Try harder next time.

Took the Inshite for a good wash this afternoon. There was a few scuffs, scratches, chips under the filth. Worst on the driver's door. Looks very handsome clean though.

Genuine interest in this when you get bored. I’ll be back in the uk around April which should give you time to have sold/swapped/roffled/bought back.

I even love the temperature knob. Just reminds me of an old safe combination dial.

Interior could do with a clock though. Seems to be the only thing missing.

There's a lot of that going around at the moment man. There's literally a queue of 5 people ahead of you fella, but I'll certainly bare it in mind.

Love this dash

If the interior is as well screwed together as the contemporary S2000 I borrowed for a spell once, it’s a lovely place to be.  Proper quality.

I still have dreams about that gearshift.

Everything control-wise does have a weight of stout precision. I'm easilly pleased but there's not much to dislike about them really. Visibility isn't great, but you can't have all the cakes and eat all the cakes too.

I have no interest in this one you've finished with it, so if you're hoping to palm it off on me then you can FRO.

Well that makes a refreshing change.

  • 2 weeks later...

One of the areas available for improvement on the Insight included the rear hatch struts.

The hatch closing on your head is only funny the first 20 or 30 times. I cannot spare the reduction of intelligence that continued head trauma can cause so I got on the internet's and looked for some appropriate parts for a Gen1 Honda Insight.

*Alexa, can you find me some hatch struts for a Gen1 Honda Insight?*

There is a place in Derby that ‘makes’ the struts (I bet they just import from China). I found I had to ring them a couple of times to get a helpful bod who was happy to check my dimensions against what they do but got the 205 sorted, being the drop top they are different and I couldn’t find them anywhere. If you are struggling I can try and dig out the details.

It's blowing a gale and I'm hung over so I guess let's get in on like naked ping-pong.

HALF OF ONE SPANNER HBOL RATING.

Real mechanics please look away now.

Prop.

Assemble toolery.

IMG_20200223_144145.thumb.jpg.304628016874bec109a0eb56eb85c7eb.jpg

Crack 14 orf at the bottom end.

IMG_20200223_135149.thumb.jpg.a8914d4290e633dee5463d12dfa937cb.jpg

Then I got stuck. How can you get stuck changing hatch struts?! Well I can. Because I'm an idiot.

I couldn't loose the ball joint on the other end. And prying it just damaged the surrounding area.

Further brute force was considered, then I asked someone on the internet.

Turns out you must wind out the bolt the ball joint is attached to in order to release it from the car.

Ah. Now this bit on the replacement makes sense.
