Nice work Jim, these have always fascinated me and I must admit to a little jealously.

I'm looking forward to your updates regarding how you get on with this. I assume this is to be your daily/commuter?

That is indeed the plan. I suppose they are at their best on runs like this, rather than stop start commuting (which I guess is most of my driving) so we shall see how it gets on.

I can see why they are so highly thought of in the USA (where the speed limit is generally 55). When I dropped the speed to 55-60 and sat between the wagons, mpgs just rose slowly and steadily, seemingly endlessly. At 60 they leveled off. Above sixty they started to creep backwards. Be interesting to see what mpg it returns with just a straight 70mph run over a couple of hundred miles.

Yo Jim Wilson²

Has it got a name yet?  You tend to give your motors names

I thought of one.  Blue Fuel Meanie.

As you were.

So, im just home.

269 miles.

Half a tank.

90.3mpg.

That's impressive.

That's what the computer says. What is it when you actually work it out from amount bought at the pump vs miles covered?

I've just completed my Pen & Paper (tm) maths and the true figure is actually 85mpg

Ah yes. I sees it now. Even specifically looking for it I scrolled past about 3 times.

I did have to work hard for that number and I wouldn't want to spend my life driving at 55mph so it'll be interesting to see what number it returns in "general normal driving" + a 70mph run up to the next Scotoshite.

Aye 55mph is grim. 62 is a bit better but still slower than most. That time I went to Portsmouth and back on one tank in the Golf it was done at 62mph. I reckon it added 90 minutes each direction.

Assume this is not your fine self?

Had to be insurance, can't imagine an insight getting tugged for doing a ton.

Thankfully not me.

I've got 99 problems but no insurance ain't one.

Reset the computer and on a 10.5 mile commute it's showing the below numbers.

A whole tank of runs like this and some pen and paper figuring should show us the WORST economy it will deliver.

It's smoll.

Grade     C-

Comments.        Jim could do so much better if he wasn't so easily distracted and consentrated on the job in hand,  I'm pretty certain with some extra coaching and hard work he could better his grade this coming year.

Recomendations.    Try harder next time.

Took the Inshite for a good wash this afternoon. There was a few scuffs, scratches, chips under the filth. Worst on the driver's door. Looks very handsome clean though.
