Wow! It must be October already! Hope we had a good summer!

Not much over 2 weeks ago, whilst I was collecting a smoll car, I was talking to the seller (coincidently going by the name JB) who assured me that as he had sold the excess motor carriages, he was going to take a minimum of 6 months break from buyage of chod. Obviously this is going as well* as my fleet reduction!

Top purchase Mr Bell.

We are both happy failures man.

For now anyway!

Great cars. I don't know why I sold my one (or the 850 either) as both would have been perfect.

Hope you enjoy it.

If it's any consolation Sam, I saw my sister-in-law today and she is thoroughly enjoying your old V70.  Does need a wash though!

That looks sensational! The colour suits it perfectly, Seem to have a lovely drop of paint on it.

What engine is it Mister?

Think its the D5252T..   The 5 cylinder drect injection tdi shared with old LTs etc.

Where the LTs not 6 potters ?

Same engine as transporter is it not

Nice.

I have spent a fair amount of time ogling Volvos lately.

I bow to your superior knowledge man.

Did you count it?

How many do you reckon.

There was in excess of 4 individual birds plops scattered around the bodywork. 2KG may have been an exageration mind.

I say it’s a d5252t.

Can I get first in the queue when you’re done with it?

No. That queue is 5 deep at the present count. You can be first in the queue for the next car I buy though.  That spot is somehow open at the moment.

Mk2 LTs use the 5 cyl TDI, in SDI form too.

That's a really nice car, seventh dibs when you sell it.

Do they I thought they where 4 cylinder sprinter engines.

Ooof, that is nice. Many buttons on the dashboard which is a sign of quality. Nice noise, too.

That is a STUNNA. I'm not one for hyperbole, but I've actually just done a spunk in my pants. Wow. Can I be next in that dibs list?

Posted

Oh, that's VERRRY nice. Well bort!

I love S70s. My biggest ever life regret was swapping my s70 t5 for a perfectly fine xj8. The s70 was superior in every way. Can I have 1st dibs please mister?

Mk2 LTs used VW engines mated to Mercedes gearboxes, mostly 5 cylinder but there is a big 2.8 4 cylinder TDI of indeterminate origin.

Ah! So they like vegertals?

Kind of. A 50/50 mix is okay but they can be difficult to cold start on a strong veg mix.

In some of the bigger Tescos veg is 70p/l in the world foods section. It's worth experimenting to see what works with your car.

*Cough cough* To all you vultures calling dibs please see post 1108, I swept (Do vultures swoop?) in only 40 minutes after the reveal...

In all seriousness Jim's (Literally) kissed a few frogs recently, I recon he may well find his 'prince charming' in the Ovlov. Hopefully it'll provide him many years of happy service/won't leak etc. Volvo's almost never leak IME.

I'd love to see some fuelly data for this, they're meant to be pretty good on the juice IIRC?

It's the law that everyone that ever calls dibs on anything, never ever actually buys the car.

I hope the S70 is vastly less leaky than your 940, fingers and toes crossed. I don't have your dexterity or determination to sort stuff like that out.

I'll stick a fuelly link up on the next fill up. I topped the tank and reset the tripmeter as I left Carlisle so calculations should be accurate.

I don't think it'll be mega-great on juice. It's a big heavy thing after all an seems not really to be geared for economy, more for making progress. Be interesting to see though for sure.

I had a V70 TDI automatic for a while, 50MPG+ on runs but in the 30s on short trips. I guess this manual one might do a bit better.

Even 30s round the doors would be impressive imo. Love the sound of the thing. Good mpgs would be a mega bonus. As would veg. I'll get down big Tesco's at the weekend and fill me boot (s).
