Bizarrely the last MOT was a clean sweep, but please note the following:

Previous owner said the garage told her it wouldn't go through next MOT without quite a lot of work.

The car has to be unlocked from the passenger door, but can be locked by driver's side.

The driver's door is stiff to open/close.

Rust as on pictures, sure to be more somewhere.

Took it for a run yesterday and it seemed to splutter/miss a bit here and there but didn't try and stall. IACV? Plugs? leads or coil pack? Engine fucking fucked big time mate? When started (first time in week or two) it smoked a bit and smelled of petrol, but was fine after that. It was a freezing cold day, so who knows?

If it makes it to the next MOT it's an absolute no brainer, if not then it'll still fetch about £130 on steels wheels I think.

Log book here in my name, one key.

The original (14") alloys on the car had knackered tyres and when I scrapped my Focus I wanted the wheels back, some in some crazy menage-a-trois, the wheels on my Puma ended up on this. And in an ideal world, I'd like them back. So...

Bring a set of wheels/tyres (and maybe wheel nuts) and you can drive off into the sunset for..

£200.

Or take it on the Puma alloys with matching very good Uniroyals for...

£275.

(Or take it on the Puma wheels, return them later with not knackered or badly worn tyres and receive £70 back in cash)

God alone knows if it'd ever make a roffle but it'd be complicated as ticket price would depend upon wheels on car at the time.

I'm in Chester, conveniently near the motorway (and thus access to scrap yards) and anyone daft enough to be interested in it is welcome to come and check the fuck out of it before committing.

£275... can’t go wrong there. If it comes to June and it’s got the structural integrity of Weetabix you’ve had cheap motoring. Ideal station car this is.

I loved these when they were new, if they weren't all fucked I still wouldn't get one.

That's fucking horrible.* :D

*my opinion only, and may be based on some horrendous Fiesta related experiences and general hatred of all blue oval offerings.

Fuck thats awful! Ideal for getting someone out of a right spot mind (or indeed into one).

If it helps the sale the handbrake is quite high too.

That must be the grimmest dash pod ever fitted to a mainstream 21st century car.

They haven't even included that little arrow on the fuel gauge that tells you what side of the car the fuel filler is.

Built for winning!

Piss wet through boot as well for added joy.

Handbrake will probably adjust out on this, it’s a perennial problem with them, only PITA with these is the drum held on with the big fuck off hub nut.

Our old 51 plate ghia is now sardine cans according to the mot history - despite very low mileage it turned into a ryvita. Looking at the mot history only the glass and the tyres did'nt need welding.

Good buy at the price with the Puma alloys. Having owned one from new I can say they are in my opinion a good steer, very reliable and  no cam belt to break.

The mot history looks good, main corrosion is usually inner sills by the rear wheel arch's.

I also have 51 plate in the same colour with a good engine and new coil pack and leads fitted last year, runs and drives.

Ideal for a new owner with parking space for a spares car. £150.

If you do raffle it with the Puma alloys included, I'll have a random.

I had a similar one that I endured for a couple of years. Took it to 130k miles. Pretty miserable but it didn't cost me a thing in that time.

Posted

Oh aye, probably won't fit but there's an absolutely appalling but complete Focus ST170 that can go with it for another £300 if anyone is brave or stupid enough to try and convert it.

Posted

Sell the 2.0 twink and shove the ohv rattlebox into the Focus. Why didn't ford do that themselves?

Posted

We had a 1.25 Zetec. One of my favourites, yes it was a bit shit and always seemed to want welding, the brakes were terrible and it was genuinely fucked in the end but it was a right laugh to drive. In Pepper Red it was. Paid £500 for it, drove it 3 years then got £350 back on it.

Posted

Same colour as my winter shitter.    I like mine.  A lot more than I thought I would.   I find the Ghia toys irritating so this looks ideal.   However, don't think I could give up the 1.4 Zetec for an Enduser.    GLWTS though - it will do someone a turn.

Why all the negativity?

A service would probably get it running right.

6 months mot, and half your money back if it fails its next one.

Posted

Good luck with the plugs on those 1.3 Enduras. Without whipping them out annually for a smear of copper ease they loved seizing into the head.

Looking on the web it's almost certainly the ICV, they're about £22 I think.

These actually handle very sweetly. The 1.25 zetec is the better engine but the 1.3 rattler has a charm* all of its own.

Off topic but why didn't they drop the zetec into the Ka? That would have been fantastic

They're great fun to drive. Would much rather smoke about in that than one of the current bloated training shoes.

Aye, I've changed more than one ICV on Fiestas of this era - common fault

Nowt wrong with this as basic motoring but I've had enough crispier than expected fords in my life.

Dodgy handbrake and leaking boot, its a small rover 75!

I think on the Ka thread, it was stated because it didn't fit under the bonnet..
