Matty's stuff - Golf gone

MotorHog wouldn’t pick mine up because I’d removed a few parts from it and it ‘could’ leak fluids all over his beautiful 56 plate Transit Beavertail. I told him if getting his hands or truck dirty he ought to fuck picking crapped out cars up for scrapyards off. He’d have had a fit if he’d have found out I’d slung the coolant and several tins of emulsion in the tank.

Will report back tomorrow evening

Possibly after you have been bailed out for showing your arse in Burton's window, or will you tell us first.

Cars gone. Unbelievably easy, no messing, full amount paid into bank within 2 hours. Would definitely recommend this to other shiters. Only problem I can see is a future shortfall in the kind of old bollocks we like on here cos why bother advertising a fucked old car when someone like this lot is going to give you above scrap value.

Doing a bit of digging, the lad who turned up was from s.norton who are a dismantlers in Trafford park. Car take back are intermediaries. He said the car is 100% going for scrap, that I will receive a certificate of destruction in a few days and that they will notify the DVLA. However I've also done that. So the cars don't seem to go to export they genuinely are dismantled and weighed in.

In other news, Burton's won't let me use their window. So I've emailed a picture of my arse to customer services at Very.com and asked them to put it on the website. Let's see what happens ...

You will probably be inundated with offers for it, could be a handy income stream.

I think for a while there are quite a few people who use cartakeback rather than flogging cars.

I have used them loads as they pay straight away, always turn up and take it away. No point fucking about for the sake of an extra £80 here and there.

Posted

They are good to be fair to them, but it's better if you're e-mates with a very good yard.

The easiest thing is for them to issue a CoD and officially scrap it.

It won't prevent it ending up in a container and being driven around on foreign soil though. Chances are low with something like this, but if you were to CTB something like a big old Merc then it's much more likely.

Given the absolute jokes who appeared (not from here) when I started advertising the Lada, doesn't surprise me in the slightest. To the extent that it depressed me enough I was knocking a grand off to anyone on here or a couple of other forums just to get it out of my sight. Thankfully I calmed down before ideas involving handbrake failures and rivers developed too far.

Shame isn't it. Gives you more of a chance as a buyer though if you turn up presentable and able to string a sentence together. The sellers relief alone should drive a good deal

I know what you mean. In this case even the dismantler I know was only prepared to go to £90. I'm assuming most MK4/5 fiestas are deaduns now so bits are exactly sought after

You won’t find Ford or VAG /French stuff going to South America or Africa. Even Mercs - Japanese/Korean is King.

Been to my scrap dealers today from work (anyone in East Lancashire john leech and son of rawtenstall, highly recommended ). He said no one is finding £140 of value in a fiesta and questioned that maybe car take back will pay over the odds for a while to get control of the market place then revert to more sensible prices one this has been achieved. Sounds right to me, like we buy any car did at first.

Want opinions from folk on here. Next couple of months I'm taking my old GTi back off the road. Probably for the final time in my ownership. I've kept the car to see winter out and save my BMW from the salt. Plan as it stands is to sell for about 6-700 to find new front wings and a new Maf for the beemer. More than a fair price I reckon. I was going to offer it on here as a sale or roffle. Thing is as much as folk are ambivalent to these, for some reason it's got under my skin far more than more interesting thing s I've owned. Next winter if I'm in the same position I'd hope to take advantage of the great deals on fascinating moted shit on here. However it'll break my heart a little to part with this.

So, the question is, what would you lads do. My wife said tonight if you don't want to sell it then put it back at your Nana's and use it next year. Two probs there. She's 90 and statistically I might not have storage with her forever. Second, cars don't like standing. So I reckon my options are a sale/roffle on here and at least it stays in the fold and I can follow it's progress. Or lend it out. I see this as the borrower looks after the car. It breaks, needs a service or gets damaged then they sort it. Otherwise they get a free car for 6 months or so less tax and insurance.

So what would you lot do??

I was offered 130 quid for the Micra by a car scrapping company to be turned into cans

but the garage I was getting the C1  off , offered 100 notes and to drive it away to use as spares , so I suppose it will live on in a way ..

and its already on its way to making 2 people happy on here !

By the Christ it's like organ donation. Joking aside I know what you mean, you form random attachments to old machines and even when they die off you want a happy ending of sorts

Any interest on here? Owned for 5 years prior to which it underwent much work in the hands of my uncle. During my ownership it's had a new rear caliper, radiator, power steering pump, clutch cable, gear linkages revised, disks and pads. Toyo proxes on front, falken eurowinters on rear (swap to front in winter!). On coilovers all round. Part scorpion, part Powerflow stainless exhaust cat back. Some history not service but services every 6 months by myself. Full timing kit done 20 thou ago.

Bad bits are the roof is almost devoid of lacquer, bonnet just started going the same way. Scabby driver's door bottom some scabs in door shuts and bottom of passenger side wing. Driver's seat has usual fucked bolster. This aside it's a very solid car - check the mot history. I'd like £600 but then I'd like world peace. Sorry I'm shit at adverts but any questions and I'll answer them! Save me from the real world please ....

If I hadn't just bagged an Audi 80 I would have given this a go. I have fancied one for a long while, stuff the h8rs.

I'm dailying one, otherwise I'd be all over this.

Massively underrated cars.

I might just be being a dumbass, but what engine is that? What big is it?

Posted

2.0 8v - about 115bhp from the factory, but a nice torque spread.

Spread the word bud. It'll be one of those car selling experiences this. It's not an old banger but it's not valuable either. I had an offer of £650 last year but decided to hang on to it cos I'm quite attached and wasn't ready to let go. Let's see if I'm left kicking myself now!!

Oh Audi 80! What flavour?

Roffle win on here in Feb, it has actually rather grown on me which is inconvenient because I want another Rover 75!
