ahhh I think thats the bloke/sounds a lot like the bloke who keeps pestering Stuart at shows! I have heard him (the bloke pestering Stuart hat is!) described by a couple now as as a bit of an odd fellow, he keeps wanting to try and buy Stuart's Harding Model IV and Harding Deluxe B! wont seem to take no for an answer! LOL

 

 

some his facts and figures are a bit squiggly! so to make sure no one gets miss-lead, heres a few corrections  

Harding produced hand propelled carriages right until the end in 1978 for the Ministry (by way of the Model 33) 

and the Murphy Auto-Electric carriage, which became the Nelco Solo-car was always an invalid carriage, and was produced until about 1965, see for example CYC3C

the Nelco Solocar was actually one of the last of the bone-shakers  

 

EJ6342 is a bit of a special onem I do wonder if/hope the chap who owns it, knows of its history

ahh good ol ONO454D, thats been the Invacar equivalent of a hot potato, hopefully it finds a good permanent home in the end! 

and hopefully whoever it ends up with preserves that front number plate! its a very rare Invacar Mk12 original plate, the number plates on a Mk12 where custom sized, but sadly very few Invacar Mk12's still have the original factory fitted plates

and I am still looking to this day for a set to get a template made out of so proper sized replacements can be made for other Mk12s, 

and this one being original to the car from 1966 is a Hills plate so its even rarer, and not something one can get reproduced that I am aware of sadly? (from mid 1967 onwards Invacar used Tippers plates which you can thankfully get reproduced in the correct font, although as above I dont yet have a proper template to get them made up in the right size yet)

looks like Fraser is trying to cash in on the "craze" LOL I mean he has had his perptually for sale for the past 5 years or so, but this is the first time I have seen him actually stick it up on eBay

 

I hope whoever buys it, converts it back to its original  and very rare Tiller hand controlled scheme Tiller machines are rare as it is, but ones with no foot controls at all are really rare, this may of been the only known survivor, certainly its the only one that comes to mind that I have been able to confirm 

(there may be at least 1 other but I have never been able to confirm its control scheme sadly WVW312S)

 

one interesting thing about XEV88S (VES108S) is that it was an AR's Loan car, (as in if your specific Model 70 needed a few days in the shop, you would get given this car as loaner) and I do wonder if they specifically selected a hand controls tiller bar machine to be the loan car, since that configuration would be the most drivable to the widest range of disabilities

There used to be an old fella in Hull, Newland Avenue area to be precise, who had an earlier model of the hand cranked carriage. It was always immaculate in a mid blue colour and had a wicker seat. He would wear a tartan blanket over his legs and often had a Jack Russell perched somewhere aboard the contrivance. Anyhow he used to go really fast on it, and would ride it on the main road without causing too much of an obstacle. So yes they can move at a decent pace.

571NPG is a Harper Mk6B and quite a late one at that, Feb 1960, first time I have seen a Harper on L plates too which is neat

the auction on eBay went for that, but both VES108S and ONO454D had reserves set which where not met, so I am assuming they did not sell?, and are still with their respective keepers/owners (I know VES is)

on the lack of an oil pressure light, I would try replacing the spade connector socket, that solved the problem for me at least   as the socket side had become too corroded after 45 years to make a decent connection with the spade connector on the switch itself

as an aside I cant help but notice you also make mention of tyres feeling a bit flat spotted, I would also recommend checking the tyre pressures, the Model 70 is quite sensitive  to that, and even a couple PSI can make a big difference in handling feel, especially as your still on Dunlop LP591 wheels, but without any inner-tubes IIRC? so that would be another good reason to keep an eye on tyre pressure, as the Ministry 12 inch wheels are riveted rims IIRC, and thus if your running without tubes can be prone to slowly leaking air through the rivet joints
