And yes, I'm a little peeved.  Peeved that you should think it reasonable to tell someone else what they can and can't spend their money on.  Because it's bullshit.

Mod or no mod, do fuck off you angry little man and let people voice their opinions. Or are opinions not welcome on this forum now?

You're voicing your opinion, I'm voicing mine.

Or am I not allowed to take up an opinion that doesn't agree with yours?

Not to single you out, but that whining 'argument' is very stale now.  You appear to be voicing your opinions without undue let or hindrance, which is as it should be.

Is stale in this context the same as the one where, as per the observation some post back, posts are still being deleted with no apparent reason or notification?

That's not 'whining', that's a fact.

I don't care what people spend their hard-earned, or otherwise,  on. I do care if someone is pissing up my back and telling me it's raining however.

I fear you have mistaken me for someone who no longer gives a flying fuck about your opinions, though of course the right to voice them - constantly and tediously - remains open to you.

Have a great evening.

In your opinion, of course, which differs from facts (as does mine naturally).  No room for discourse, just shouting down and belittling instead of , say answers or discussion - in general not aimed at your per se.

My father is very much of the opinion that those in receipt of benefits should receive food vouchers, childcare vouchers etc blah. Unlike AS, I don’t believe in a programme of re-education for those I disagree with, so I smile politely - mumble something about him being a bit of a tit - and move on.

(However, he is nearly always right on the Sky TV and tattoos thing)

It’d be a shame if this thread got trashed though. Yes, it’s someone pursuing their interest but - moreover - it keeps some of the chariot talk out of the other threads which I’m a big fan of.

Hah! I had that one in the lineup but had not yet posted it :) its from here

https://clarkshop.co.uk/2023/06/02/clark-partners-celebrate-60-years/

I really quite like the photo as its one of the many protests that where *for* the Invacar, because initially the government said they where going to get rid them all by 1981! so then finally the Silent Majority spoke out going "WTF?!"

Invacar-Protest-Rally.thumb.jpg.d15544c830daee856db0d3c47ec4068b.jpg

and heres a link to the high/full resolution  version https://clarkshop.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Invacar-Protest-Rally.jpg

its also very fitting that its from Clark and Partners, they where a *massive* Approved repairer in the north of Ministry machines back in the day

@adam1db actually has an ex Clark and Partners AC Model 70, KPC538P, complete with "dealer plates" still :)

image.png

I was hoping that Adam could meet up/get in contact with Clark and Partners with this Model 70 for their 60th Anniversary, it would make for a great few publicity photos :) but I dont think anythings come of it sadly

speaking of, Adam has told me that he is looking to get some fuel tanks made up, for his many Model 70's and he has been talking to a fabricator, who thinks they should be able to make up a batch of Model 70 fuel tanks in stainless (like @Zelandeth's) so Adam has asked me to get the word out so to speak incase anyone else with a Model 70 needs a fuel tank or 2! he thinks they will be about £100-£200 a tank or so, and is hoping to be able to drive the cost down by doing a large order

so I thought id mention if anyone is interested, feel free to PM him on here to let him know, and I am sure he will get back to you with the fine details if it all manages to happen :)

What the absolute fuck happened to the Talbot Horizon?! Another total failure. Nice work.

Why was the post deleted? My pet hate. Can  people not be given the opportunity to take in and digest other opinion, despite it potentially not alligning with our own take on things? Corrosive Cancel culture creep.

speaking of in the line up, heres one that I meant to include in the 11000th post montage, but it got left behind oops!

its one I quite like for how it depicts an AC Acedes Mk14A Model 67 at speed :) especially with the indicator going, I like to think the driver is coming into a fast left hander, kicking it down a gear and powering out the other-side :)

Nah come on man, you’re better than that. The posts above yours are both valid questions: one asking what happened to the agreed moderation plan and one asking specifically why a post was deleted.

I don’t see the need to be so tribal about TDW- there’s plenty of disagreement and calling out. There’s honestly no need to be so tribal, especially when it’s existence stems from the self appointed moderators here reneging on their pledge of free speech.

Peace out.

Mate.  It was specifically set up because a number of posters threw their toys out of the pram and were called out for being cunts.  I don't take issue with it existing.  What I see is a bunch of sad middle-aged men trying to bully a young man with cerebral palsy and autism and tell him what he should do with his money because they haven't sorted their own lives out and want somebody to point a finger at for their own failures.  And the person they're trying to bully blissfully ignoring it.

It's utterly, utterly pathetic.

Peace out.

Went past the old AC factory at Thames Ditton and they have cranes up, I bet it's a housing estate; Cobra Cul-de-sac, Ace Way, Daytona Drive, Aceca Avenue. I wonder if Model 70 will be a house name?

as long as they dont have an "Invacar close"

because that would be like opening a housing estate on an old Ford Factory site and having "Vauxhall boulevard"  LOL

I will reply to this part directly.

Do you honestly believe that picking on a young man with autism and cerebral palsy because he decides to spend a little bit of money on himself as a hobby is any of their business?  Do you not agree that doing that is the move of a total cockspanner?  Do you think that it requires any explanation or justifies any?  Because if that's the the key message that you're taking away from this then I think the clue train has missed a stop.

I think the clues were above. No, my views don’t align with what you’ve said above. Whether or not those are the views of the members involved is another matter, but no. My knowledge of cerebral palsy and disability is first hand, and I’d not want to spend an hour in that position.

But. I’m still none the wiser as to why the questions posed above are too hard for someone to acknowledge and answer.

1. what happened to the agreed process of moderation.

2. why posts were deleted.

I hope that clarifies my personal position. I only speak for myself. There is no TDW hive mind or collective standpoint. I frequent many forums. The value of your investment may go down as well as up. YMMV.

If somebody is bullying a disabled person, you're quite happy for that to just sit there without consequences?  OK then, I guess.  Well that says a lot.

I don't read it as that. I understand he's asking for clarification why they were removed as that was agreed (apparently).

I personally don't see a need for it in cases like this, but also I get the point of consistency in policy. I admit I'm not as familiar with the policy as I should be as a member and therefore I don't know if this is agreed or not.

In the interests of transparency, it was myself who hid the posts in question as I felt they amounted to little more than bullying of someone who in my opinion doesn’t deserve it.

Yes, I know an explanation should have been given at the time but quite frankly, it was the early hours and I was too pissed to start explaining what should have been bloody obvious to anyone of normal rationale.

Ironically, I’m the one who’s been pushing all along for lighter and more transparent moderation and I apologise for not explaining myself sooner…I should have taken steps to explain myself the following morning but got involved in family life instead and simply forgot.

What I won’t apologise for though is removing the posts in the first place…I understand people have issues of their own to deal with but trying to lay down the law on what someone is or isn’t allowed to do with their own income, no matter how it comes into their possession, is a step too far as far as I’m concerned.

By the way, @SmokinWaffle, I notice you too were calling out the perceived ‘unfair’ moderation as you had a post hidden too…I’d have thought it obvious that it was removed as it quoted the initial post about which you were complaining?!

I should also point out that I’m not the greatest lover of the bloody blue death traps either…I remember watching one catch fire when I was about five years old (sorry @LightBulbFun, I don’t remember the registration) and thinking to myself even then they should be banned as someone disabled would struggle to get out before it went up like a Roman candle, but hey, each to their own and if Dez has got the balls to tackle central London traffic in one, then fair play to him, he’s a braver man than me.

I'll go back to my 'safe space over at The Dark Wob...'    :-)

in defence of the Invacar with regards to them going up in flames, every single (Ministry) example going back to the mid 1960's if not earlier, came equipped as standard with a fire extinguisher that was always within close reach of the driver, something, I dont think even modern cars come with

so if you where a disabled driver in such an unfortunate  situation, you where not left completely without some means of trying to save yourself

and thats not to say they where particularly prone to catching fire so they fitted them with fire extinguishers,  no particular model had any sort of inherent fire risk, so any sort of fire would be down to likely poor maintenance, Arson, or some other unfortunate event

for example on the poor maintenance front I remember someone here working on their Model 70 and remarking at the scary lack of fuel hose clips on any of the fuel hose lines, and making a remark about them catching fire back in the day

but thats clearly a case of someone doing poor maintenance on that vehicle in the past

as the workshop manual quite clearly states there should be suitable clips securing the pipe to the fuel tank outlet and the fuel pump inlet

image.thumb.png.428c4dbc79c996283b60311da52b6c24.png

and I think its safe to say, that on any car, if you maintain it badly, and leave all the fuel hose clips off, your going to have a bad time!

and further to the above about how often they did or did not catch fire, I have even got statistics  from period to show that no, they did not actually catch fire as much as people might think they did

image.thumb.png.eb8ae071bf639a66c82708ea0287730f.png

(I am quite impressed someone managed to steal 10 Villiers machines, the control scheme layout on those is not exactly obvious to an outsider LOL)

so I hope this helps put your mind at ease from that unfortunate event that you did witness all those years ago, that it was mostly likely a freak accident, due to reasons not to do with the machine itself but external factors, that could of easily happened to any car, be Invacar or, Rolls Royce!

and that the Invacar itself was no more of a fire risk then any other car of its time, and that the person inside would not of been completely defenceless (and I do  hope said user was able to make it out!)

It was an unfortunate incident, in so much as the driver had been arrested a week or two prior for, shall we say, being rather fond of pre-teen boys.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on who you listen to) he was safe on remand at the time, awaiting sentencing.

As you were….

If it's not bloody obvious why those posts were deleted, the original poster is seriously lacking in self-reflection and if anybody is scratching their head then they need to take a good look at themselves.  There's being transparent and then there's stating the bloody obvious into the gaping abyss.

But you're right, I strawmanned @BorniteIdentity and misrepresented his post.  Sorry about that, old chap.

I didn't see the original posts so I really don't know. I don't feel like I particularly need an explanation either though

I think it was Big Al who told me that the mk12s were more prone to fire as in wet weather condensation would drip down from the rear window right on top of the black box and create an electrical short thus fire would ensue. Don’t know how accurate that is though
