O.K Clio was a bad idea..... Enter rice racer [New oil pressure switch]

Well this year taught me some valuable lessons regarding poor car choosing!

Last year ended with me crashing my lowered C class w202 (twice) and after the first crash involved replacing all of the things to hold a front wheel on.... I forgot to replace the shift bushing (auto) and ended up bending the rear of it after accidentally reversing into my dad's w210, which had just been repainted.

Enter then my w210 280 phase 1 .... Lasted November to February. When the front spring perch fell off and wrote off the car.

Feb - end of Feb .... My worst choice! A1.6 zafira club .... No further comments HA!

THEN THE MOST AWESOME!

The Volvo S80 T6 2.8 twin turbo.... The auto boxes in these things are useless and saw this sold on eBay to a man in Poland for £350 early April.

April to June was my Mondeo 3 1.8 petrol. Nothing hugely wrong with this car but the insurance priced me out with a £1500 renewal price!

Currently early June to present day I have a Clio 2 1.2 16v and it looked EPIC when I got it (essentially free) so I obviously HAD to buy it......

Here she is as I collected from Leeds...

The car doesn't look like this anymore after some hours with cellulose thinners and a machine polisher!

Yes it's lowered and yes it has tints and wind deflectors but it's insured on modified scheme at £40 per month with everything declared.... God I'm doing things properly for once!

The only major mishaps have been one wheel hub required and the clutch went on the day I was collecting the keys for my new house.

I have a friendly mechanic that does the big jobs for me now so these issues were dealt with promptly.

Place bets now on how long it will last :D

Welcome back, looks well. Bought myself a 172 a couple of weeks ago and love it.

We should* be able to lob the tce 1.2 turbo head and turbo on with a little jiggery of electrical things to give it better go in the future. Should make about 130bhp if played with but simply a pipe dream at the minute.

Insurance costs make that option far more favourable than getting a 172 because the change will only add £14 over the year and they are essentially both D4F engines

Did you post these pictures in reverse? You appear to be making something terrible look more betterer.

New Chompy is strange and scary.

I felt sorry for it and needed a car that can do 45mpg round town and almost 70mpg on a run lol.

What's more shocking is that when it breaks it goes in to the garage

That look good now. Can also confirm, Clio 2s are for winners. Especially in 172 FLAVA

Bloody nora. That’s impressive thinners/ power polishing work. It can’t be often that a car painted in matt ‘next stop, scrapyard’ black is turned back into a tidy looking car again. Très bien.

Nice job!

I got my youngest daughter one of these to take her test in seven years ago and she still has it. Now on over 150k miles, it still looks good (shiny like yours) and goes really well when revved hard (she has spun it on a roundabout at least once though!).

They are one of the most determined little 1.2's .... Interesting that they used this engine in the proton savvy too.

They will take thrashing all day long if the mood takes you and if lowered like this one (60mm all round) they will outcorner lots of things.

I love it more than I loved my saxos. Even if the electrical systems can sometimes think they are related to a cabbage

Oh for fuck sake. Who left the back room window open? I did say these sort of people will sneak in if it's not secure but no one listens till it's too feckin late

Something very similar to this ... 180mm variable speed machine polisher.

McGuire's ultimate compound and various wax and polish from the McGuire's range.

I had a Clio 2 as my first car. Very much soft spot for them. Even if they're utterly gutless engines with rubbery gear changes in 1.2 16v engine. Just about acceptable up to 50mph then it dies off entirely. What trim is this in?

Expression? If so, Renault did an offer around that time on them for £5995. A lot of them went out the door because of that.

70MPG? LOL

Good work on reversing the shitty paint job.

My girlfriend has an LHD diesel one of these that has been utterly neglected and it just plods on, they seem pretty solid.

I have horrible memories of Clio 2s because psycho ex girlfriend, but it’s excellent to have you back again Chompy and that one looks 250% better for your turd-polishing activities.

Yep 72.4mpg to be exact on a run up the motorway to Barnsley and back.....

Recent trip to St Anne's (theddlethorpe nature reserve beach place) cost me £16.40 brim to brim and that was 5 up a dog and loads of stuff in the car (about 196miles round trip and not so carefully driven)

Driven carefully I need not own a diesel
