If it is why on earth did they cut the roof about to fit a poxy webasto

I can remember reading an article in a classic car mag that claimed that a Webasto was in some way an enhancement. It was incorrect.

I like the pair louvres punched in the bonnet of the Fuego though, they look ACE.

There are black ones living wild in Cambridgeshire. I sat in the van watching two frolicking in a tree one day about 4 years ago.

A few days later there was a feature on squirrels on Jeremy vine and they had an expert who said he'd heard of them but never seen one.

I remember there being a fair-size colony of them in Letchworth (Herts) about 25 years ago, if you went to one of the parks you were guaranteed to see 2 or 3 of them. No idea if they're still there now. Back then there were plenty of people who insisted they were just odd grey mutations and not a proper breed, but they seem be accepted as a 'thing' now.

Mazzy Star on the Sonos and a metric fuck ton of codine are making this a very pleasant, if slightly hazy evening apart from the occasional massive back spasms.

I also got out bid on a legend coupe by 11 poxy quid on flea bay, arse.

Good customer service  I bought some Jag bits from David Manners last week, but like a dick put the address in wrong – I got the parts sent to my folks’ but used my postcode in error – a return to sender situation.  So I emailed them yesterday and they phoned back saying they’ll send it again tomorrow but at a reduced postage cost, which is nice.  The guy apologised that their system didn’t pick up on the error, despite it being my fault.  Wud use again!

A webasto is probably to blame for a percentage of cars being scrapped.

I've seen cars parked up outside for 30+ years re commissioned, I've seen webasto roofed cars sat outside dissolve in 4 years

Grin?

Just had a proper row with a couple of load mouthed young men (early twenties?), one of which is the son of 'scary woman' next door but one.

They were adamant that my green Bentley was a Rolls Royce. Wouldn't have it that it wasn't, got the wings on the bonnet see.... Also old Rollers are worthless, 3-4 grand tops mate.

Oh and they used to go round knicking the spirit of ecstasy for fun. I always thought he was a decent lad... apparently not!

I popped to replace the backbox on my mates cortina, i really wasn't ready for what I was greeted with when I removed it i couldn't help but laughing, the seam that blew was facing up so I couldn't see it while it was on, he did tell me it went with a loud bang

I got 'the old car nod of acknowledgement' from a bloke in a Citroen BX earlier today in South London. I was in the Hillman. Likely to be anyone from here?

My Blu Ray of Mad Max Fury Road arriving. Such an epic film.

The red Rover passed its MOT today.  Apart from having the nearside sill'n'arch welded up (the offside turned out to be OK under all the peeling underseal), it's needed a rear wheel bearing, rear brake pads, handbrake adjustment and a couple of bulbs & wiper blades.  Not bad really - although it's had to borrow the Rover of Doom's wheels for the test as its own tyres are still fecked.

The Vulcan is flying a Tour of the UK this weekend, could be the last time to see it in the air

That's a brilliant photo - is it yours?  I make no apology for reposting it.

Ta for the tip about the Vulcan - I was sad at narrowly missing it twice over the summer so may well venture over to St Athan on Sunday afternoon to wave it goodbye.  Hopefully in the Jaguar, or failing that the Discovery.

Got BT Youview delivered today ( good deal, free and actually saves me a fiver a month!) and eventually remembered to set it up. Everything peachy and it works well, great picture and 168 channels before I turn on BT vision!

But, BT vision didn't work!

Rang them, in India and got a brilliant Indian chap who had endless patience as we had to wait for it to re-boot and do loads of other shit, he sorted it first time. My first positive experience of customer support with any company.

Thumbs up BT chap.

Thought I'd missed out on the Vulcan after the Revival abort. Think I'll run up to Sarum on Sunday.

The Pleasure Wagon just keeps on giving...

This afternoon it transported happily:

  • Me & The_Wimmin
  • A full week's shopping and extras
  • A BFO CRT Sony television, the one that two grown men struggle to carry
  • Matching stand for the above
  • Armchair
  • Two upholstered pouffe box things
  • And a two-seater sofa FFS.

...all in one go, I didn't remove any seats, and it fitted without much faffing about. Top job!

MOT's due next week. Wish me luck.

Oh, the furniture cost me a total of £11.14 (nearly new), and the telly £11.49.

Ebay snipes FTW :D

Vulgalour - Send your thread to new Princess owner as is  - and he wants to know who the guy is who made the Grille ?? I dont know not gone through all the thread - any clues good squire ??

It was on its original late model HLS grille, I never changed it and I don't think Phil did either.  It should have a little blue and black BL badge on it but that was missing when I got the car.  Here's an '81 with the one-year-only door mirrors and grille OKK should have.

14684336439_4b602b4cc4.jpg

This is how OKK was when I had it, you can see where the badge should be.

20130920-04_zpsba0a72b0.jpg

Also worth noting that the seats in OKK are very rare, something I didn't know when I bought them.  It's possible they're the only surviving set, so far nobody seems to be aware of any others having survived and the contrast piping is a factory option.  Amazingly, I got them on eBay for 99p, the carpet was one of three sets I bought together on eBay for 99p so it's the cheapest interior I've ever put in a car but also one of the best.  OKK has the doors, bonnet and bootlid from an earlier Princess 2 which is why the colour and vinyl is slightly different on them.

Unique to '81 cars:

grille has a central badge this year only

larger black plastic door mirrors, similar but not the same as Metro

black windscreen and rear screen insert instead of chrome

black gutter trims instead of chrome

plastic boot badges - these were in a box of parts when Phil bought the car, they may not be with it now

vinyl side graphics unique for this year, should still be on the rear quarters and front wings

dark grey wheel trims instead of silver

no bonnet crown

Excerpt from the radio show Pick of the Pops.

Tony Blackburn:

"I've just bought The Crying Game but I've lost the instructions for it"

(Dave Berry's "The Crying Game" fades in)

"I know all there is to know about the crying game..."

Tony Blackburn:

"That's a bit of luck"

You probably had to be there.

Got my leccy bill in today for negative €270. Thats two years in a row they have ended up owing me nearly three hundred sheets so they have agreed to a smaller monthly payment for the coming year.

This seems to be entirely due to the wood burning stove I fitted in the kitchen, meaning the electric heating hardly ever gets switched on now. The stove was free, I had to pay maybe €100 or so for flue pipe, new rope seals etc, and I get firewood for free.....literally winning at life. Everything else might be fucked, but at least I am warm.
