What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Remembered about EccentricRichard, read a few old threads and had a good old LOL.

I remembered him a few weeks back and genuinely LMAO'd at his musings of the non-licence holding teen who'd held some serious views on cars he'd never driven or even sat in.

Had a good day; got up at 6:30 so I could watch the Grand Prix and right glad I did too, excellent race. Then took the furry friends out for a proper walk, came home, had a cuppa and snoozed until 3:00. Woke up and watched all the races of MotoGP and right glad I did too as they were all brilliant.

Finally had dinner at 10:00 p.m. which was a dreaded pot noodle but seeing as I've been eating crisps and biscuits all day.....

Was at work today, we were out having an aimless drive around for 4 hours we decided to look for amusing road names along the way

We found a couple

Make a whole new thread of names like that - Blighty is covered with them

The Mazda has been chucking it's water out of the overflow bottle, complete with bubbles coming out. Shit it must be the head gasket.

So I started it up and watched it warm up the other day. The level rose quickly as it warmed up, and bubbles started to appear in the water. As soon as the fan started up the water level plummeted. The clue was the speed at which the water level rose and fell, Just like there was nothing holding it back. New radiator cap on and I did the same. A small rise in the water level and when the fan started no drop in the level. And NO bubbles. I am very very happy this afternoon.

Near Holmfirth there's a place called Upperthong.

I had the 'thong' hattrick years ago. I played football for Upperthong, worked in Thongsbridge and was courting a lass from Netherthong.

Also, at the same time, I lived on Penistone Road.

Grin: I've finally been to Stondon. It was even more amazing than I'd heard. If I won the lottery this is how I'd spend my money (but I'd keep enough to make sure the roof doesn't leak rather than spending it all on chod).

Grump: it's destined to be my only visit to the Grand Palace of Shite. The closure is inevitable looking at the state of the place but the country will be the poorer without it and it will be missed.

Cockshutt is in Shropshire between Ellesmere and Shrewsbury, and there's an Arscott near Minsterly by Shrewsbury.

There's a Bell End Farm about 20 miles away from me, we used to camp nearby when the boys were young and with fail were amused driving past.

My daughter's Astra passed its mot today.

That made me grin like a monkey, coz I haven't got to do the remedial work on it.

I never fail to smile when driving through ClitHero. I mean Clitheroe.

Also, we passed many signs to Penistone on the way up to Manchester at the weekend. I wondered out loud if it was one Penistone, or different Penistones. Which then led me to wonder if the Penis Tones would be different, like D and C#, which would lead to something like bell-ringing.

Good save!

I once bought a bargain Rover 'bubble' that had these exact symptoms. Owner had been told all the Rover HGF guff and was desperate to get rid. I was chuffed when a £3 cap fixed it. My girlfriend loved that little Rover and kept it for 6 years.

This has appeared on my son's neighbours drive. 429 Boss Mustang. Stands out a tad amongst the Euroboxes.

My Nan used to live about 20 minutes from a village called Wetwang. We passed through it every other month when I was young, and I never remember seeing it 'altered' (although it's pretty hilarious as it is). I did read something in the news a couple of years back, about the sign being nicked every few months.

Also, the previous RRG venue was fairly close to Lickey End.
