As I type this the grand sum of £299 buys you not one but TWO Mot'd and running cars ladies and gentlemen.  A nice little 205 and a plush Xantia.

The travellers who 'kindly' took over a car park, and their mates who moved onto an industrial estate, didn't do anything to help their stereotype. Being chased by a vicious small dog and having stones (and swear words) thrown at me by kids because I had the cheek to ride down the public road past their camp/s was a pleasure, just as what appeared to be 13/14 year old kids (girls and boys) driving Transit vans and brand new cars must have been lovely for them.

The people who made a raft out of old wood, paddled it across the canal and then stole a load of diesel which they'd pumped into drums were obviously not from the same camp. No way. It was just coincidence.

My mum works for the Essex ambulance service, they are strictly not allowed on those sites (Dale Farm) without police escort. The Ambulances get pelted and ambulance staff abused if they try to access the site alone.

What thick fucks the lot of them are. Their uncle paddy might be having a heart attack but lets vandalise an ambulance.

Had my tyres fitted today and the proprietor of the indie part-worn and fyre fitting place had a dune buggy like this:

dbuggy4.jpg

which he claimed to have built himself and was visibly powered by an Alfa 33 boxer engine and transaxle, it also had home-made uprigtht exhaust pipes and was road legal. He said he got the engine for £120 from somewhere in Essex apparently.

Anyway, made me smile and he was living the dream

Great day today, met 3 great people so hopefully this could be the start of rising out of the doldrums. Also, whatever happens, hopefully living in Birmingham will soon become history whether I'm able to move out or not.

Had the road re surfacing lot digging up the road here today blinking mayhem closed all the roads off, back tomorrow to finish it off, which is a bit odd, as three weeks earlier had a team of men putting down new centre lines and junction markings  on said road now not existing???

Cavcraft's 21st of March celebratory piss up last night. I know he's a right wanker, but he bought my drinks last night and paid my taxi home.

I've had a play with beetle powered one on a hill farm, useless though great fun. I wasn't keen on the gear lever about an inch in front of my nuts either. Then a couple of years ago someone local I slightly know was selling one with twin turbo Rover V8 power and an MOT, also useless. My balls, or lack of, were a problem this time too.

If you have all the tools for that and fancy swapping it for a lovely (worn but new motor) Henry let me know! Failing that, think I have a box of bags for this if you want them!

Posted

sadly we don't have the tools for the garage hoover shown above, but the bags would be welcome thanks!

drat.....

i don't think those bags do fit our garage hoover.

the number on our machine is 732i and i know we have had a mare of a job before getting bags for it.

we did have the tools for it too at one point, but they have gotten mislaid somewhere in the shed or garage.

Posted

732i is a BMW I thought, that could be why bags don't fit it.

as i remember it wasn't so much the fittings on the hoover bags that were the problem, but there is plunger switch which needs to be pushed down before the cover goes down and over the bag.

on a proper bag there is a tab that covers the switch, whereas the other bags don't, and i've got to use a screw driver or something to push the switch in before closing the lid.

Just walked the mutts to the shop (bloody miles) and seen loads of old motors some of which would be right at home here! A really early Clio in bright red and genuinely mint (sill and everyfing!), a load of convertibles belonging to an old bloke with a Staffie that Chester liked, a couple of R8s ...

Best one though was a JRG Merc 'E' class that was hanging with a for sale sign in the window for £700! I laughed properly when I saw the sign and perused the completely bald front tyres and the rust that was everywhere on it.

Must start taking a camera....

and learn how to download the resultant pictures!

100 mile round trip to collect Eva from grampys completed in the zx with no issues at all.

And as swmbo said to fill up and pay on her card, I put super diesel in! Might clean the engine up a bit I suppose?

Driving back along the Antrim Coast Road today, there was a Bentley Continental GT convertible behind me. Roof down, being driven by a BIG fat, red-faced man in a suit, and smoking a cigar. The thump of that V8 as he booted it out of the bend at Cloghan Point was glorious.

Driving down Eastern Road into Portsmouth and just after 2 lanes merge into 1 there's an extended period of hashed white lines for right turn lane protection. Virtually everyone queues, but tonight 1 complete knobweasel in a Range Rover Sport decided that he couldn't be bothered to queue like the other 20 or so other cars and bombed his way down the hatched area until he was forced to merge by some traffic lights.

A bit of a dick, thought I and that was the end of it, until about half a mile later I see some Police lights, and yes it's RR knob and he's been pulled over by 2 of Hants' finest. :-D. Now even if they don't book him for anything (though he was a kid, and so I'd be interested to see the insurance details...), the amount of time that he would have been stopped for would have more than made up for the time spent queue jumping.
