What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Just flogged some equipment to someone I didn't know. When advertised he was sending me text messages and at one point seemed a bit arsey.

I'd have normally told him to shove it but as it transpired he was actually a top geezer.

Just been to ASDA for the weekly shop/dump whisky and condoms in old laies' trolleys, (and wait to see their faces at the checkout as they think they have Alzheimers) and bought a VIZ T-Shirt.... Johhny Fartpants! in XL for 6 quid. That will go nicely with my Sid the Sexist shirt (see crescent wank, above) Me happy bunny. Now to open a few beers (King Goblin) and avoid the kicking game on the TV.

The top day i had at Giff's .

Never even know the guy, just signed upto the MX5 nuts forum to get some answers ... the next thing i knew, i was invited to a "welding day".

A top bloke - Vince brought his little 200HF Tig welder, and gave us a very quick run-down.

Not to be big headed, but my welds came out AWESOME :D

I also got afew measurements off Peter's MX5, and he kindly dropped me off.

All in all a fantastic day.

(Being able to Tig is really going to help this MX5-Rebel business)

What made me grin time.On Friday I was driving through Stanhoe in Norfolk when in the other direction came a few Ferraris including an Enzo.a smattering of Aston Martins including what looked like a race prepared DB4.a Jensen Intercepter, several E Types, three convertible Rollers, two Bentley Blowers,a shed full of 911s,a V8 sounding Cobra replica,TR 6 and two Stags plus a Mercedes 300SL gullwing. They were all driving along a recently resurfaced road with stones spitting out everywhere.Every driver had a grin on his face. All in all 30-40 cars.As I came out of the restricted zone a 70's 911 with chrome bumpers and the gullwing were tearing along trying to catch the others with a squad car desperately trying to stay with them.Even the coppers were smiling.

Exceptionally difficult to nail down just ten and it is ever-changing.

*Discovered Mylene by pure chance and this video sold her to me. I was seriously sceptical at first though, despite loving her voice and the song (and her looks). The tears are real and there is a very sad story behind it, although she does cry quite a bit on stage.

Saw her in Brussels last year and she was saying something I couldn't understand and was in tears, as were 99% of the 80,000 audience. Turned out she was sad as it was the last show of the '09 tour.

There was speculation that it was to be her last ever tour.

**If only this were available to buy with money.

***Saw Heather live in Brum when she was seven months pregnant and she gave one of the most exhilarating performances I have ever seen. Hard to winnow it down to two, there are so many good ones.

****Brilliant young Pipa player. She patented the 'glass' Pipa she is playing.

I made a flask of tea this afternoon to take to the lock up with me, I'm working away on the Sceptre when I get a text from the O/H... "you forgot your flask, I'll bring it down". 10 minutes later she's there with said flask.

What a top bird!

Talking about getting waves off fellow old car drivers, I've been chuckling as I got the thumbs up from a guy in a Skyline the other day whilst I was pootling about in my little-old-lady-spec Starlet. I've put clear indicator lenses on it so they all must think it's a JDM TYTE YO Glanza Turbo version!

In other news I was caught in a time warp recently when this parcel arrived:

Used to work in Warrington in a freshly built office block, that still smelt of paint, so had the whole run of the car park. Me and a couple of mates decided to do a parking challenge, inspired by a workmate with a -brand new- Kia who couldn't park for toffee.

The police got called, as the security thought someone had tried to ram raid the building next door, even though it was empty. The boss advised us to stop playing around, as we were all 30 years old.

Posted Image

As the buildings became occupied, the car park became more full. A fat man parked over two lanes, so I taught him a lesson. It took him 20 minutes to get into his car, while we stood at the window and laughed.

Epic FAIL. Still room to park in the end slot. Must try harder.

I used to do that, anyone parking over two spaces used to get my car millimeters away from theirs, necessitating a clamber over from the passenger side. It just annoys me that people can just get out, look at the car straddling two lines and think "Yeah. I did well there".

Just morons who do it on purpose so no-one opens their doors on their Chelsea tractors/ponce mobiles.

I used to park as close as possible in my old Fronterror (which was caked in mud and scratches and had running boards) then just stand back and watch fat sweaty bastards struggling to get into their double parked wank mobiles.

They must have known that opening their doors onto mine wouldn't make any odds to me as mine was a wreck anyhow.

I have to say that I don't park my Rovers near other cars in car parks because I hate the dents caused by idiots in supermarket car parks. If someone parked deliberately close to my car "for a laugh", I'd 'accidentally' drop petrol and a lit match through their window.

Posted

I don't like people who open their doors on my cars either Pete but I don't have to double park to prevent most of it.

I won't park next to two door cars (bigger doors), people carriers (more chance of kids swinging doors open) or anyone who has badly parked or has the front wheels turned at an angle. But I still don't double park.

Good chap!

If I go to Tescos or wherever, I'll park in a quiet row, just slightly out of the way from the 'must park near to door' brigade. Tends to be fairly safe, but I've still picked up the odd parking knock there.

If it's one of those small car parks, say a Tesco Metro, and it's a bit busy, I'll park down a nearby side street instead if there are no 'safe' spaces.

Having said that, I have twatted peoples cars for parking in a manner similar to the one Station did to the Merc above. A good knee will leave a bloody big dent if applied correctly to a non-swaged part of a rear 1/4 panel.

There was one parking space in the entire parking area - the one I parked in.

I'll be fucked if some lazy sales manager decided to park over two spaces. Likewise, I had to get out the other side, making sure I didn't dent the Beemer on the other side, I'm parked in the middle though.

He could've dented my car all he wanted to, fuck him and his attitude, I hope he pulled a muscle in his back the fat fucker, it was well WORTH watching him get in, I laugh to myself everytime I think of it.:lol::lol:

"and of course Mark who is a bit of a natural"

No "dressing" the welds was needed, just went over with a wire brush to remove the colour, which you get from the heat.

... Now i need to buy a TIG.

Posted

That's ace, I could never do that, mine would be full of holes where the weld was about 2 foot high. Tubes are meant to be really difficult, they look airtight!

Posted

I did a better weld than that on some Mild Steel (Which is harder to weld)

The guy Vince who showed us very quickly what to do said they were very good ... can't argue he welds for a living

Wow i sound big headed now

But Dave it's easier than it looks

Yes Nile.

The vid you posted is class - I'm a ZZ Top fan anyway - although after a bit of research it does seem the drummer is kind of 'famous' for that sort of thing.
