Proper creosote, I mean real proper creosote, the banned from all inhabited planets in the universe stuff.

I love the smell of it. Love it.

Painted my pole with my secret stash & I now stink of it and will probably do so all weekend. Also popped a bit of lead flashing on my pole, with luck it'll last another 30 years.

Creosote for painting of wood is coal tar distillate. Its carcinogenic and causes skin cancers, but preserves wood a treat.

Ive had my particular tub for about 20 years, its only used on the sleepers and the pole (originally a power line pole, now choppd up and has a variety of uses). All of which were treated with it when they were in their original use.

I really want a pole mounted red post box, but the missus doesnt like the idea of traipsing the ooooh 35 or 40 foot to the end of the driveway to collect the mail.

Do it! That'd be ace.

I put new wiper blades on the Unmentionable today; what a difference - silent, smooth operation. Also, the Rangie got a new sidelight bulb to replace a blown one; not the quickest swap (that honour goes to the Saab), but far easier than most moderns.

You watch the same Russian crash videos as I do!!! Aren't they utterly mint? I've never seen so much retarded driving in one place.

These Russian Car Crash Compilation vids are bloody ace, and there are hundreds of them!

Things I have learned about driving in Russia....

1 - "bletch", "stooka" and "vuy yo mahn" appear to mean "fuck", "shit" and "you cunt" although maybe not in that order?

2 - snowing? ice on the roads? Drive faster - you will be fine*

3 - Traffic lights are suggestions rather than mandatory.

4 - If someone cuts you up, its better to hit them than swerve and hit something else as they are likely to piss off leaving you to cop the blame.

5 - Russian people bounce surprisingly well.

6 - Dont go to Russia.

On the creosote topic, Muvva_Stanky's neighbour makes his own creosote substitute from a mixture of fresh diesel and used engine oil. It absolutely stinks (not in the good, creosote kind of way) and kills plants extremely efficiently. There is a clear and slowly advancing line on that side of the garden where nothing grows, due to the ground pollution caused by this stuff running down the wooden fence and dripping on the dirt at the bottom.

that is all.

Grandfather MicraShed used to paint his fences with used engine oil - they never rotted.

They did however burn brilliantly when the construction company that built on the land ripped them out and put them in a pile and set light to them. You could see the smoke for MILES

I drove into work in the Innocenti today, for the first time in several years.  It's just as fun to drive around town as I remember, and its lack of overtaking ability on A roads is just as frustrating...

On the way home, an older gent in a rather dirty silver Octavia estate failed to give way to me at a mini roundabout.  I didn't have to take any evasive action, but we passed rather closer than is normal for traffic at roundabouts.  It could have been a grump, but then when I fell in behind him I saw that someone had written in the muck on the tailgate "Signal THEN brake. NUMPTY."  So I obviously wasn't the first driver that he'd cut up. :-D

Sounds like how my late father-in-law used to drive prior to his cataract op... ;)

A friend of mine lives with a woman who, shall we say, has problems with communication, or rather that she doesn't listen.

Anyway, my friend has become so annoyed by this that he sends her emails to convey his annoyance at the state of the house, their relationship etc.

The funny thing is that he will do this from his PC while he is in one corner of the lounge and she is in the other, browsing on her tablet and watching the garbage box.

I told him he should just leave her but they have a child, so he says he will leave as soon as the kid is sixteen.

Modern relationships, eh?

My car passed its MOT yesterday (with only one advisory too!) which was a pleasant surprise, I expected the cat to be buggered/emissions to be all over from endless cranking and running rich because of a knackered thermostat and camshaft sensor for a year.

Thermostat is fixed too now, I can now use the heater!!! Simple things.

Stuck the two dogs out in the sunshine thismorning before we walked 'em, looked out the window half an hour later and the Cocker pup is sitting on top of the planter (having half dug a shrub out to make a comfy squat) by the front door surveilling her adoptive world.

We've got a Viszla bitch too about 5 years old now, both dogs are rehomes and both as mad as a box of frogs,  great fun.

Thisafternoon has been an Alice Cooper fix, brilliant.

He seemed entirely nonplussed by them so I suggest you use them again in the future should the need arise.

My wife's grandfather was driving for about 2 years when he was apparently blind. His wife would navigate, tell him when lights changed, when to speed up and slow down etc. when he finally ran into a bus in his 2.2SC Auto P6( naturally) and the Police forbade him even to drive home . He was quite indignant, saying he only went out twice a week, once to the supermarket and on a Friday to the Legion and he knew the way anyway. How they never killed anyone I'll never know, he didn't live in a nice quiet backwater either, he lived and drove in Fulham.

The Clarion stereo that Chaseracer passed on to me on Sunday is now in the Kia and making noise with the aid of a Halfords provided ISO wires extension

I now have tape sounds and MW radio to add to the awesomeness that is FM

The Halfords bit is a bonus as £8.99 has saved me from soldiering my fingers with lots of pretty burn marks while attaching the wires from the old kit to the Clarion

Using the power of google translate to chat to a bloke in France, I now have a brand new carb for the LNA for half the price of what the ones on eBay are going for...

A brand new carburettor is a thing of beauty indeed. Nice score.

Those bastards at WWE cancelled the network 15 minutes before it was due to go live in the UK. Luckily I've just found a way of getting a one month free trial via proxy, so I'll be spending the next 30 days watching big shiny men grabbing eachother
