Do you like my new tax disc?

Nearly the right make.  Please excuse the maxpower tax disc holder - was a present from my cousin, so I thought I'd better use it!

I had a Fiesta Eco-boost thingy as a loaner yesterday.  Quite a blast from the 998cc 3-cylinder engine (the last 3-pot I drove was a Maruti 800!)  Very quick and makes a great noise when you floor it.  An amazing amount of things ready to go wrong (and apparently many already are).  Guaranteed future shite.

Having spent much time and effort on a total back garden makeover at Beard Towers, which included digging a small goldfish pond complete with small waterfall, thoughts turned to garden lighting. Wanted the retro look, so decided on paraffin lamps hung strategically from trees/lining path etc. GR9 for Christmas look also if it snows.....

Bought six paraffin hurricane lanterns new from Ebay. £16.90 including postage. Tried them in the garden last night. Less than £3 each and proper old fashioned lighting.

Result! Bit of a faff filling/lighting/blowing them out etc, but they look (and smell) great IMHO. Reminds me of camping trips when I was a kid too.....

Tilly lamps are amazing, the amount of light they kick out is quite astonishing.

I have one of those (best 11th christmas present ever) and so does my dad, sometimes we race them.

Mine is now over 30 years old and a bit ropey though.

I've wanted a Mamod steam engine since I was about 9.  I think it has more to do with being sad and geeky than old.

I remember playing with a mamod as a child and pouring methylated spirit in while it was running and shitting myself as the flame shot into the bottle I was holding and then as I twisted away I flung some decent flames about!

Yo Lacquer, I wish I could show you the large and expensive-looking engraved house sign i drive past every morning that says THE BEECH TREE'S, you'd love it. I'll get a snap next time i'm stuck in a massive traffic jam beside it

I've got an identical Wilesco. Haven't had a steam-up for a while. Looks like we'll have a new section at the next Shitefest then? Steam racing!

Yearly statement on my mortgage and I've actually paid some money back on the original sum, about time.

(The money involved is a true pittance but it's enough house for me and means I can have a shite job and not worry about any "corporate" rubbish career type job).

I've been waiting for those stereos to come back around so I could get one for my Cortina.

Cheers for the heads up Mr beforeseven.

I was just thinking about a new stereo for the Boring and that's the decision made, it can have one of those.

Suddenly realising my dog looks a bit like Dave Lee Travis. No wonder he's always sniffing round the local high school.

That 'Genious' test made me LOL - facebook is rammed full of enough memes and quizzes and other crap with appalling spelling and grammar to make a book. 'Your' instead of 'you're' is getting worryingly common among supposedly well educated people and it seems only the minority actually get it right now.

On a related note, the refectory are currently serving sushi on "Tuesdays and Wednesday's" (sic). You've gained kudos from offering sushi but lost it all again with that - seriously, if one day doesn't have an apostrophe what on earth makes you think the other one does, and if you're going to mangle the language at least do it consistently!

Installed this, fitted straight in,only about 4" deep so would fit in shallow dash.

Plugged direct into existing wiring.

Sounds really good, not tried usb yet.but bluetooth through iphone worked straight away, plays music fine as does phone hands free.

Well recommended especially at £35 with 3 year warrenty
