Friend of my wife cooked a casserole over the weekend, used a bottle of cider in it,was fuckin horrible so she gave it to her dog.

A Border collie with a hangover is a sorry sight indeed.

I've seen the Hyundai name on things as diverse as hologram-type electric fires to parts on gas turbines. Hynix, purveyors of computer RAM and other semiconductor shizz, is (or was) Hyundai as well.

We have Mitsubishi air con units at work, which do their job very well indeed. Didn't Daewoo make TVs as well? Could have sworn an ex housemate had one

I remember watching something on telly and they said that if you had a Hyundai car the factory equipment that built it was made by Hyundai as well. As was the actual factory itself, the foundry that made the metal, the equipment that dug the ore out the ground, the ships that brought the cars into the country etc...

They really are a HUGE operation.

They didn't build this though.

A lot of these Asian conglomerates are HUGE. Daewoo have indeed made all sorts. I remember Burger Kim in Birmingham (street food vendor with a Renault Master) had a Daewoo microwave, at the time I had my brand new Daewoo car.

Remember that Subaru is just a branch of Fuji Heavy Industries. They make houses, aeroplanes and many other things. You can see why Austin-Rover was forced upon BAe. It was trying to use that Japanese role model. Unfortunately, BAe never really seemed to give a shit about cars.

Fuji heavy industries also bring related to Fujitsu (computers) and Fujifilm cameras.

I went for a job with Samsung not long ago and during my arse-licking research I couldn't see much they weren't into, from microscopic electronics to ships and factories.

Those Daewoo tellys are just rehashed Vauxhall efforts from a few years back

I think I still have an old Daewoo VCR somewhere.

Visited my 87 year old father in law in the care home this afternoon to take him out for a cup o tea. One of the residents is a lady well into her nineties with a razor sharp wit and loves banter.

It seemingly was my turn today to receive both barrels.

Her.. " Hey you with the big belly, who are you?"

Me... " Hello, I am just visiting my father in law"

Her... " Hey John (one of the carers) A bloke over here with a bigger belly than you"

Me... " Errr......"

Her... " Who does your washing and ironing? You need to have a word with them. They must be ironing your shirt over a Wok"

Me.... " Errr....Ummmm... Haha."

Her... " Are you wearing shorts or did they shrink your trousers too"

Me... " Hahahaha errrrr "

I am going back tomorrow once I can think of 'something to respond with in a suitable manner' was speechless at the time!

Made me grin!

And Fujiyama being their department for nightwear garments?

I had a Daewoo mountain bike for years.

I used to work weekends at Comet in 1996-97 and they sold Daewoo white goods. The cheapest under counter fridge was a Daewoo FR142. That's as far as my knowledge of white goods model codes go.

With the van out of action, I was forced to head out in the 2CV this evening so I could swap it for a bus temporarily. What a lark! I've not driven the 2CV since last week, only the Maestro van. 1940s French technology highlights just how poor the Maestro's cornering ability is. It's not hopeless, but it doesn't exactly inspire, whereas the 2CV just begs you to go even more quickly.

Overnight, the 2CV is in good company.

That's the last ever rear-engined Skoda.

Good new! I've sold the 5 series. At a crushing loss obvz and they're not picking it up until Saturday so that still gives it a day to throw a con rod through the block and do me right in. I've leased something brand new, horrible but cheap.

My mate who I've loaned the SD1 to now wants to buy it. I don't want to sell it or really need to sell it but the fact I've lent it to him because I'm not using it speaks volumes.

He's 25 and looks pretty cool driving it am 40 and look like a dick . He's taking it to Blackpool this weekend see if he likes it so much after that!

He's taking a Rover SD1 to Blackpool? What's he going to do when he's finished, sweep it up and post it back?

This is a problem admittedly. When you are young and drive an old motor you look like you've got a bit of style. When you are old (I put myself in the 'old' category) and drive one its difficult to avoid just looking either like a JSA claimant or, if its something nice in good condition, then a 'classic car bore'.

Just make sure he cleans the seats before giving it back.

My brother ( the one with the 40 quid Daewoo ) has just signed up here. He's seen the light.

You, sir, hence need to progress to a P6.

I would too. I wouldn't mind a stock S1 SD1 v8 either.

My boss sneezed and farted at the same time during an important meeting.

She was mortified so I tried to make light of it.

"Bless your snart."

Is apparently not a thing.

I too would put myself in the 'old' category and whenever I've caught my reflection I don't think I look like a JSA claimant or a classic car bore. No... I just look like a weirdo. Which I am. So that's okay.
