Sitting in an anonymous bar in Central London having my dinner on my own, feeling a bit grumpy, when on the stereo comes Kingdom of Rust by Doves - a great song and strong contender for Autoshite theme tune (very old thread).

 

Someone on here introduced me to it, and to my shame I've forgotten who it was. Thanks again anyway. Cheered me up a treat.

Booked the MR2 in for MOT on Friday. Spent 16 hours yesterday and still at it today and all the rust is gone and no doubt will fail horribly as I'm expecting it to pass.

Had some right racist gobshite at work today, going on and on and on about pretty much anyone who isn't white. I let him twat on a bit, and then when he really started having a dig I told my wife was Indian.

He went into a spectacular reverse mode and started telling me how some people on his holiday caravan site where mixed race couples and he really liked them and they kept their caravans clean etc, plus about another ten minutes of the sort of absolute shit you'd expect a racist to come out with when they're back pedalling.

Sad really, but I just felt like I'd won a massive victory over him and I'll bet anything if he comes back, he'll never spout all that sort of shit again.

My missus is second generation Caribbean. It's great fun watching people who should know better dig themselves into a huge hole. On the down side, I lost a good number of people who I used to call friends because they didn't 'approve' of a mixed relationship.

i only took a couple of the inside of it, i dont really know the fella as he is a mate of my mate who paints my cars and hes of the older generation so im building up a bond of trust with him before taking lots of pictures of his motor, but no doubt i will be going to do more work on it for him so i will get more pictures to share

After about a year of dicking about, I've finally got my van sorted and on the road, and I went camping to Edale this weekend with our lass and the dog, and it was great. The pile of batteries I have rescued from works skip were enough to keep the beer and bacon cool for three days, the gearbox worked fine and the bed is comfy. The curtains keep the light out nicely, I just need to do something about the smell of farts in the morning.

 

I even managed to work the camera and tripod properly after being in the pub all afternoon. Look!

Took the bike out for a shakedown before my first triathlon on Sunday. It decided to rewarded me by munching its rear cassette.

 

Nearest bike shop is shut till Monday, next nearest one couldn't get it into the workshop until Tuesday and even then they said that it is too old to get direct replacement so quite a few bits would have to be changed.

 

 

So instead i did the most unautoshite thing and bought a new one on interest free credit!

Do beware though - someone off here (can't remember who) managed to sell an empty IPhone box to a steaming retard who thought they were actually buying a phone, despite sending several messages telling them otherwise. I seem to remember nastiness which culminated in the forumite (long may he live) inadvertently getting the spaz buyer in trouble with the cops, so it wasn't all bad.
