ashmicro Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 This was parked in front of me on Monday afternoon. and I wasn't even in Portadown!

Spiny Norman Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 As an alternative to the wall-to-wall Olympics coverage on TV tonight, BBC4 are doing a documentary on Thin Lizzy at 9:15, followed by some other music based WIN, as is often their want of a Friday evening.
RedSparrow Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Love that olympic Eddie! Also, some of you chaps are in the computer biz aren't you? Seriously I need to buy a decent new laptop as cheap as possible. Mine is almost dead. Any recommendations?
Ross_K Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Don't get a HP! Currys/PC World are doing an alright Lenovo for 269, and an Asus for 289.
RedSparrow Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Don't get a HP! Currys/PC World are doing an alright Lenovo for 269, and an Asus for 289. Thanks, I'll have a look tomorrow. Nearly got a dell in tescos today, but I promised myself I wouldn't by any electricals from them again. Also why is everything either 10 or 15.5 inch screen? I kind of wanted something inbetween, I'm sure it used to be possible. And yeah, I've learnt my lesson with Acers and HP/Compaqs.
TimothyClaypole Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 A cheque today from RBS/Natwest for £3800.00 (many thanks to a Savings Scheme for stupid people called PPI).
Spiny Norman Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Currys/PC World are doing an alright Lenovo for 269, and an Asus for 289. The Asus laptop I bought in 2006 is still going strong, I'd definitely have another, especially at that price.
ayd Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Also, some of you chaps are in the computer biz aren't you? Seriously I need to buy a decent new laptop as cheap as possible. Mine is almost dead. Any recommendations? Again Asus fan here but if you can hang fire a few weeks the 'back to school' deals should start to pop up in the likes of PC World etc... you can sometimes bag a bargain with a few extras like bag etc. thrown in free.
Albert Ross Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Last November, I received an inheritance payout after 7 years of wrangling with banks etc. I bought some furniture and a few luxuries, and settled down for Christmas. In April, some thieving little scrote broke into my house and destroyed my peace. Amongst the missing items, the new laptop got stolen. (Toshiba, £430) I waited for the payout for the insurance company, having declared the cost of all missing items. I replaced the laptop with an identical unit, from the same shop. £350.............. For brand loyalty, I got a free antivirus lobbed in, which also covers my Android phone. I was asked why I bought two of the same, within 6 months.... I did wonder if it was a shopworker who had remembered my details, who had "cased my joint", as it were.
Pete-M Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 604 Sold. Not to a banger racer you'll be glad to hear.
vulgalour Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Congrats, it's been a long old slog but you got there in the end.
Pete-M Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Indeed. Was quite strange seeing it go. It's the first time I've seen the old bus on the road and it does look cool as. Still, its departure means the Jag can have some much needed TLC and I've got space again.
eddyramrod Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Well done Pete. I was biting my nails over this one, glad you've found it a home.
DSdriver Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 604 Sold. Not to a banger racer you'll be glad to hear. phew, that's a relief. It's a lovely motor. I hope you told the new owner he has to report back on here regularly.
dollywobbler Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I imagine there's a LOT of relief on here! Glad you got actual cash for it in the end Pete.
Timewaster Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 If you can make one heap of all your winningsAnd risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,And lose, and start again at your beginningsAnd never breath a word about your loss; Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,And–which is more–you’ll be a Man, my son! –Rudyard Kipling

Any recommendations? Dell outlet - factory refurbs with 12 months warranty. Stock changes regularly, so check every few hours.I got an xps i5 laptop from there 18 months ago, for under £400, very capable laptop with v. nice screen
skattrd Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Whist test driving an XM I saw a C6 going in the opposite direction ... reg C6 LHM ... made me grin
dollywobbler Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Something not car. Hounded away from anything to do with actual life by the Oily Pigs, I went YouTube trawling and found this rather delightful collection of Spanish chillout music. It's 50 minutes long. I feel a lot better. http://youtu.be/Ux1LVyhs6Pg
Pete-M Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Olympics opening ceremony with HMtheQ and Bond. That made me grin massively. I just hope the rest of the world saw the same footage. Well in, Queenie.
Cavcraft Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Olympics opening ceremony with HMtheQ and Bond. That made me grin massively. I just hope the rest of the world saw the same footage. Well in, Queenie. +1.Didn't watch it all but what I did see was superb. Really well planned/carried out and a joy to watch, another one of those reasons it makes you proud to be British, even if it does seem to be 'unfashionable' at times. What with the jubilee, the Olympics and our recent superb efforts in the TdF, it's been brilliant to see the Union flag flying much more this year. Once it seemed it had been hijacked by racists and we need to keep finding a reason to fly it imho so they don't appear to have claimed it back.
kinkersaab Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 +1 on the olympic ceremony thing. Was good to watch, although, it took me a while to get into it...Loved it when Team GB came into the ring and cameras cut to queen with a right "face on"picking her nails....
Volksy Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 cut to queen with a right "face on"picking her nails.... Haha, I though she was texting at first!
Caffiend Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 This (from News thread): Things left to do are to underseal the underside, get some Iron Cross stickers, fit the lowering kit and nail some rusty saucepans to the roof. However sadly I think I'm going to end up selling it because I wanted to fit some Triumph Dollspramite alloys and they won't go on. I think the satin black paintwork suits the car, I just need to paint the roofrack (cut down car creeper) silver though I think.

Well in, Queenie. +111. A great day to be British, Paul McCartney notwithstanding (but that's a personal beef). Pete, I got a text from a mate who is working in India, and it was all over the TV there. India and Pakistan don't like each other, but they love our Royal Family.
