What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I am happy, having been given a free laptop (and no laughing policemen in the process).

It screams 'CMOS CHECKSUM FAILURE' on startup, after which it thinks it's 1/1/2002. It was only used to run one piece of software which was utterly confounded by the date problem, so the solution was to bin the laptop  It actually runs beautifully, and has nothing installed so it's like new.

With any luck a new CMOS battery should bring it back to full functionality.

We are going to the Hoseasons site at Arncliffe in Skipton, It seems to have good reviews.

Bear in mind that the A59 Harrogate to Skipton road - the most direct route from the A1 - is closed at the moment due to rebuilding work after a landslide near Blubberhouses.

Edit: my other half has just told me it's opened 2 days early!

Also the Yorkshire show is on in Harrogate from Tuesday-Thursday, it turns getting into Harrogate for anything other than the show an absolute freakin' nightmare.

No-one ever mentions just how far 132,000 volts can travel through the air!

1.4 meters if my memory serves.

(I work on substation maintanance and you wouldn't believe how many substations get robbed!)

If you do find the time though Trig, the Yorkshire Show is a good day out (if you like that sort of thing  )

Also, if you find yourself at a loose end any afternoon, take the road down to Grassington and then across to Ripley and keep an eye out for the little brown signs for Brimham Rocks (infact Ripley and Ripley Castle themselves are quiant, if a little small). Clamber up a rock a two and drink in the views. Gorgeous bit of the country, this is

I cycled to work today. 4.5 hours on and I've just about got my breath back.

Also, these new-fangled GPS phone things are ace, as I can now prove it. I can also look at just how much of the ride home tonight will be up hill. Urgh.

And I reckon that's saved me a couple of quid in petrol + whetever I'd have spent blezzing round with nothing to do on my lunch and ending up in pc world or halfrauds or whatever.

I was going to wax lyrical about your 16 mph average until I saw it was all downhill

We went to brimham rocks this afternoon on the way to the camp site. Beautiful place with amazing views, those rock formations are remarkable!

Went for a walk up in the mountains today. A sizeable fleet of Honda Cubs came past in convoy! Some were 50s. They seemed to be going pretty slowly downhill!

Honda Cubs are the prefered method of transport for social outcasts the world over.

There must of been a Dungeons and Dragons fair on. Or maybe a gathering of the Mid Wales Man Boy love Assoc.

EFA as they certainly seem to attract nonces for some reason.

Making me grin was watching some mouthy tosspot in a cheap shiney suit get all lairy in the pub last night. Fast forward ten minutes, going out for a smoke and there he is on the floor with a large bouncer sitting on him and the rozzers on their way to nick him.

What's red and white and wobbles between your legs? A Honda 50 with a flat tyre.

When I were a lad I used to laugh / sneer / scoff at the Honda Cub, but they look pretty butch and purposeful compared to the faggy, girly little gaypeds I now see the 'youth' straddling, often with the baffle removed to attract attention to their shame, knocking 20% off the top speed and sounding like a wasp in a coke can, are the little turds too stupid to derestrict them?

The world needs lots of these.

Apparantly I was trying to adjust the blinds in the bedroom at 12.30 this morning having previously consumed large amounts of vodka and lager. Seemingly standing on tiptoe whilst muttering to myself before crashing down on top of my sleeping wife didn't go down too well.

That'll learn her :D

Went to small antique/collector's market today and spotted some classic commercial vehicle videos, 50p each. Lady on the stall said "you can have the lot for £3" Got 5 lorry/road run videos, 3 bus ones and a trolleybus one.*

*Yes, I AM sad.

Not '50's Road Hauling' and 'Giant loads on the move' amongst them by any chance?

^^^I've got "50's road hauling", it's in the cabinet beside me!

 My mate's dad woke up to his son sleep-pissing all over his face. On Christmas Morning of all days!

He woke up to see him stuffing the duvet into the washing machine!

A pair of Sandglow beauties owned by fellow classic car scribe Richard Gunn. The Princess (called Kate...) is a seductive six-pot. The Allegro (Pippa - see what he's done there?) doesn't have as cute an arse as its namesake. Sorry Harris Mann. Pippa Middleton wins.
