What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I've had a great evening meeting up with Wuvvum and Spottedlaurel in the Mk3 tonight to chat about cars in a nice country pub and being attacked by Cockchaffers :? .

They're bloody massive! I wouldn't like to hit any of those when riding downhill on a pushbike, they'd give you a bit of a bruise I reckon. Here's a pic of one I took on Saturday morning:

Horrible things, These didn't seem quite so big but kept coming from the hedge, Mrs Trigger was freaking out as she's scared of them. (She once put the washing out with a carrier bag over her head just so one wouldn't get in her hair  )

Quite rightly by the looks of that picture! Fuck!

Finally getting the white 480 in the unit so that I can strip it. Thanks once again to MM5 [Mark] and WTC [Mark].

Cavette's photo in todays Classic Car Weekly standing next to his Cortina at Cholmondeley Castle is making me laugh this morning, Looking the part mate!

Bloody hell, been waiting for weeks for that now and excitedly rushing off to the paper shop to buy it. Cheers Trig, can't wait to get home now!

this is making me grin

a concise explanation of why that 'forum' is going downhill fast

i particularly like this quote: Lets face it, RR isn't for discussion any more, just Google image search results.

Treat people like children and you're left with children.

The cockchafer photo is about twice life size, maybe a wee bit bigger - it was about an inch long. Big enough to put several on a bamboo skewer along with some onion, peppers and BBQ sauce!

I lost the will to live reading four pages of shite. I'm right/no, I'm right/I'll go if you don't like me/stamping of feet etc.

Ditto. I don't even read the RR general board anymore, and it's been ages since I posted anything that took effort.

When I first saw the mention of "cockchafer", I thought it was a term of derision, like "assmunch" Never heard of the blighters before.

watching the Apprentice does thieving gypsy bastards! ;-)

their transits are a bit too tidy though!

I was following an old Land Rover 90 today. All lifted suspension, big wheels, rock sliders, snorkel, racing seats the full works. In amongst all the one life, live it stickers was a powered by fairydust sticker. Now I don't know what this fairydust stuff is but I followed it for about five miles and it smelled an awful lot like Kerosene to me.This knarly old beast of a machine was being driven very enthusiastically along the country B roads until we came to a T junction. As the Landy turned right, made me smile seeing a young girl driving such a vehicle. There was no checker-plate instead along the sill was a sticker proclaiming "anything boys can do,girls can do better" the lettering was the same shade of pink as the driver's top.

Yup, I enjoyed drooling over your Escort (even better in the metal than it is in the pics), and as a bonus I passed a scruffy old Marina estate on my way back through Norwich.

The Apprentice. Irish guy in a Transit looking for rubbish (read scrap). Superb.

After leaving work earlier I headed off up the road to the council lock-up where I keep my Montego. Jaw drops as I head up through Brixton and see an immaculate metallic red NSU Ro80 sail by with a young bird in her 20s at the wheel :D Stopped at the lights I just stood there gawping, it looked a real cut above everything else on the road.

Sorry no photo though! Interestingly DVLA have it down as being 1999cc so she's paying too much road tax for it.

Yesterdays post included the Weber and manifold for my Cortina. Will have to wait until payday day before I buy a rebuild kit then fit the carb to the car.

An enjoyable evening indeed.

All three of us showing off recently purchased stuff. Wuvvum and I did the traditional bit of new car key-swapping - the £70 Rover is a hoot, it goes very well.

And I know Trigger has posted this in his Spots thread, but here's that lovely Austin again with added people (fortunately no Christmas jumper in sight).

Just as the horror of that memory begins to fade. Have I lost the game?

Check out the pictures, I don't know which is the funniest tbh.

LOL, I've passed that van several times on the way to & from work. Looked a bit of a heap from what I could see of it.

I know the lad who owns it and he's actually a bloody great bloke. How the holy shite he can call that a camper van is beyond me though. Still, I suppose it's somewhere to rest while you wait for the breakdown fella to come and rescue you for the fifth time that day.

It would be fantastic if "Talbot Alpine Beige" was in there somewhere :D
