Here. The office is 5 miles from me. I could even cycle that!

Yes. Er, I mean... no.

Double result then. I'd cycle to a job that close too, it's the ideal* excuse to have a big V8 at home then.

Just had a phone call.

I start a new job on the 7th of January. I'll be providing remote support for satellite comms stuff. The pay is significantly more than what I was on at my previous role.

Fuck yeeeaaaaah! The interview was only on Monday, so that was bloody quick!

Nice one, that'll make for a good relaxing Xmas for you then

Oh, I forgot the best bit of this job.

It starts at £25k per year for the first 3 months of training, then I go onto 12 hour shifts. The company provides 24/7 cover so those shifts would include nights and weekends.

However, it's only an average of 3 shifts per week, and the pay jumps up to £32k. They said that most Mon-Fri jobs you're at work about 240-250 days per year, at this place you're at work 140 days per year.

Lucky git, I'm currently awaiting a date for a 4th (!) round of interviews for a job I started applying for back in September :-(

(and +1 to the idea of getting a nice V8 now that you don't have to do commuting mileage, I can't help grinning whenever I'm out in mine)

Result, well done you. Get time to start a new chapter at the start of a new year.

I don't know how but the picasso lives. The belt had skipped about 5 teeth and belt was frayed. I expected a minimum of cylinder head replacement being a full interference engine. I have found I have 230psi over all 4 pots and an 11 quid belt fitted and it's fine with no knocks or bangs and no loss of power or compression. I think it wanted to live! I'm feeling a bit better now!

If he takes the trike he can do both at once.

Just got confirmation of a stand at the NEC for the Practical Classics Restoration Show with Discovery for March! Great show so looking forward to it. Oh, we will be getting a discount code for tickets that I will be happy to pass on (to AS members only of course!)

Got a letter from a bank that I had a credit card with years ago - I closed it maybe five years ago.

They made a miscalculation on the interest and have sent me a cheque for a refund.

Of £3.26.

It was my birthday yesterday and received a trolley jack as my main gift. This was great as I left my one that I'd had 10 years in a certain bloody Honda Civic that I scrapped not so long ago.

I was working in deepest darkest Normandy today and came across some old Reading Evening Standard Reading Rock specials from the early eighties.

In amoungst the hairy arsed rockers were some car adds.

Here's some:

Umm on a collection mission posted on FB, not me (mines still broken) but this should be travelling down the M6 from Cumbria later today with another Umm on the trailer.

Umms all over the place, yay,

I can report multiple sightings of another UMM in the wild around the Horsham, West Sussex area this year!

The BBC had one of those boxes to open their emergency safe of emergency broadcast records. I do like those civil defence videos.

Hmm. Mine was Vanquis too.

I was amused by some FCA auditor finding such a small discrepancy on my account, but it would mount up if they'd done it to everyone!

Just parked up at home and noticed the mileage on the Sharan.
